My T-Mobile MDA won't turn on or take a charge, battery was low
I've tried holding down the power button for 5 seconds, it still doesn't power up. I've tried doing a soft reset, doesn't power up. I've tried pressing the soft reset for 5 seconds, doesn't work. It turned on earlier when I hit the power button, but it turned it's self right back off. The battery was really low. I've tried to charge it, but it still doesn't power up, and it's doesn't show an indicator light that it's being charged...
I have same problem with my MDA. I love that phone. I have had it every since it came out. I would love to get it repaired to at least be able to get my info out of it and text messages. Someone Please help. Somethings it will come and and get a full charge just to die in a matter of 5 mins as if it have never been charged. I even bought new batteries, that didn't keep it working. I noticed that the entry on the MDA where the charger goes seems to need to be moved around to show some kind on indicator color. The color usually is red. Sometimes it may go to yellow briefly and maybe green. Right now it is dead and I can't get it to come on. HELP PLEASE!

Re: My T-Mobile MDA won't turn on or take a charge,...
I had the same problem, but got the idea to "jump start" the battery from Googling the problem. At night, I had turned off my MDA to charge the battery and then in the morning, couldn't revive it. I removed the battery from my MDA, and determined which battery terminal was positive (far end of one side) and negative (far end of the other side) by using a multi-meter. BTW: Battery was still @ 3.5V (okay…battery was still alive, if just barely). Then, I found a 5V DC charger (5W Max output = ~1A) from my bluetooth headset. I used one wire (CAT5E) and connected it to the negative side of the adapter (outer sleeve - again, verified by multi-meter) and another wire to connect to the positive tip of the adapter. I had to strip about 1/2-inch of the insulation off of the wire on the DC adapter side, and about 1/8-inch of the wire on the battery side. Plugged in the 5V DC charger and then I touched the negative wire to the negative battery terminal and held it there, while I touched the positive wire to the positive battery terminal for about 30-45 seconds. Put the battery back in the MDA, started it up, and now it's charging on the regular MDA AC Charger that came with the phone. Problem solved.

1.Check the device's battery level for at least two bars of strength. 2.If the battery level is low, charge the battery. 3.If the issue is not resolved, remove the back cover. 4.Remove the battery. 5.Wait 10 seconds. 6.Press and hold the W key. 7.While pressing down the W key, re-insert the battery. •The device restarts and after approximately 15 seconds, the 'Recovery' screen appears •Release the power button but *continue holding the home button*, for another 30 seconds. Step Thanks

Take the battery out. Then put it back in. I couldn't find anything that would work but doing a hard reset. Once I did that the phone worked again. I lost everything but my phone works again.
To hard reset the Virgin Venture please follow the instructions below:
Start with the phone turned off.
Press power button until the phone turns on and vibrates.
Press and hold the up volume button until you see the word hello.
Release the up volume button. Note: You will see the word hello on the screen for about 5-7 seconds.
The screen will display the android guy next to an exclamation point inside a triangle.
Press the home button to access Android system recovery screen.
Scroll to and select wipe data/factory reset. Note: The volume button scrolls and the enter/return key selects
Scroll to and select Yes.
The Venture will reset.
Select reboot system now.
The Venture will reboot to the initial setup screen
try taking the battery out and while holding the power button in put the battery back in, if you still get nothing on the screen try doing the same , holding the power button down while you insert the charger.
If a tri coloured screen appears you will be able to reflash it, if it doesnt appear, then your battery is dead and it wont charge no matter how much you try, the MDA(or wizard) wont charge the battery, unless windows is running, i would recommend you buy a new battery, they are cheap enough
NOTE!!! If the battery is very low but you can get the multicoloured bootscreen, i would not advise flashing it as you have no idea of how much charge is in the battery, if the battery fails during flashing you wont have a phone anymore
Mda Vario's don't charge when turned off, heres what you do.
cut wire off a usb lead the small end strip the red and black wires, put the red wire onto the posative connection where the battery is it tells you what side is posative and negative on the battery, use black with negative and red with posative making sure that no wires touch the other metal strips in the phone, replace battery plug usb into computer and start up the mda and wait for it to boot. once turned on leave to charge as it will charge through the wires connected to the battery, after 10 to 15 minutes plug in the actuall charger and try to remove usb wires without taking battery out. if that is not possable it is ok as the battery should have enough power to start up once it starts leave to charge and always keep some charge in the phone.
another this to try is get a new battery.
mine had the same problem i would try to charge and nothing and it would turn on for about 30 seconds then turn off and i tried putting it on a charger within those 30 seconds but it wouldnt take a charge.
i got a new battery theat had some charge in it and it worked great! alot of the time thats all you need it a new battery
this is a sw boot up screen. this is what the screen will look like with no sw on the device, so you guessed it....the download was unsuccessful and corrupted the firmware.....if you tried to reinstall the sw again, and it does not work, you might need a new phone....contact t-mobile to do that.....OR, you can try to do a master reset by pressing the sw keys.
to do that, turn off the phone, and press and hold the soft keys (buttons located beneath the touch screen that have the lines on them on top of the green call button and the red end call button).....while holding these down, press the power button for 3 seconds and release the power button.....all this time you are holding those soft keys down....the phone SHOULD turn on and go to a black screen with white writing.....at this time you can relase the two buttons......press the green button and reset. if this does not work.....my friend, you need another one......good luck!
