It is important to replace the battery with an identical type and that usually means taking the lamp apart to identify the battery type and specification.

If your lamp is a high quality type it might be possible to buy a replacement battery as a spare part, though that would usually be disproportionately expensive.

An older lamp might have a Ni-Cad type and replacing them with Ni-Metal hydride would be worthwhile but if they are a lithium type only replace with identical. Replacements for most types are available from Amazon or ebay or similar sites.

The battery does not hold charge. It is weak. Replace it with same type number. Brand name of the battery isn't a matter, check its type number printed on it.

To the best of my knowledge both the wet type battery and the gel type battery are both vented and interchangeable, though the gel battery is often considered a sealed type they do generally contain an array of valves to allow the escape of gas..

Both offer advantages over each other with the wet type battery being the traditional fitment for motor vehicles. Gel type batteries have a history of variable reliability with the main advantage being the danger of spilled acid is removed they can be fitted in positions a wet battery would be unsuitable for.

If in doubt refer to the battery manufacturer's application catalogue.

Asus motherboards usually use a lithium CR2032 battery for CMOS. Also, on the top of the old CMOS battery you took out there should be the exact battery type engraved on the surface.

This error occurs when the BIOS battery is flat. Replace the BIOS battery, most motherboards use a lithium battery type CR2032, this is a coin size battery. Check the BIOS battery type used on your motherboard before you purchase the battery.
After replacing the battery go to the BIOS setting and set the Date & Time etc. and you will not have this CMOS error.
