Need software I need software to run it on a Sony laptop. I lost the original disk. I would appreciate any help.

Which problem do you still have with the information provided? please give details if you have trouble accessing or using the software or following the instructions and I will try and help.

You still have failed to give any useful info - if you are able to tell me your operating system, and what exactly you mean by "software to run on a Canon A 40" (the software will only run on a computer - the camera has firmware running), then I can find the exact page for you and save you having to click on the different options yourself.

That link gives all of Canon's software downloads for the A40. every operating system I selected has numerous downloads that work fine.

do you have the original windows 7 disk? if you do, you can use the fixboot from the repair utility. you do not need to buy anything,
However if you lost everything, I am not sure if your windows directory is still functioning, maybe you lost few files from there as well and that will mean that you have to re install windows completely.did you do a system restore disk? ( Nobody does) but after losing your computer 4 or 5 times, you will make sure that you do have a disk made. Write if you need further assistance, Tony

I need a XP Pro driver disk for Sony Vaio PGC7ADP

You know it would be a good thing for you to get a System Restore disk for your laptop. That way you would have the driver files all of them for your machine they are not that much and will save you hours of research trying to find drivers for your laptop.
I highly recommend everyone that has a laptop top computer or desktop machine get the factory disc that comes for your machine this way again you will have less hassle doing a restore on your computer if you have the original software. You can get them online in a Google Search or EBay or the manufacturer. John

I have a sony vaio pcg-gr414sp laptop, I'm looking for the video driver for it, but can't find it anywhere

This model is pretty old - enough that Sony no longer supports it. If you don't have the original software repository off the C: drive or the recovery disks that came with the laptop, then you're stuck with buying drivers from 3rd party vendors (I found a few in a quick search). If you have the recovery disks AND a spare 2.5" hard drive (IDE, not SATA), then consider swapping the current drive with the spare one, and running the recovery disks on that 2nd drive. This will wipe out the contents of that drive, but it now holds the original software repository which has all the original drivers. You can make a CD of that driver directory, or pop the 2nd disk into an external USB disk case and use it to load the correct video driver for your original disk. This involves some money (spare hard drive and case) and opening your laptop to swap the internal drive.

You will need a good disk recovery software. These utilities do come at a price. Email disk recovery experts such as Recover Data or Sony Vaio data recovery if they can help you.
