I have a eMachine t5246. My hard drive went bad, very bad, couldn't get it to even get wiped out so. my eMachine disc won't start up. It is the operating disc but every time it says install and...

If the hard drive failed you will first need to replace it with a working hard drive. One that is done, power on the computer with the recovery disc is the drive and enter setup. It should say something like press F9 or F10 for Setup. Look through the menus for "Boot Order", make sure your CD/DVD drive is above hard drive. Save the changes and reboot, you should get a message "Press any key to boot to disc" or something similar, do so, and follow the prompts to re-install windows.

I have a emachines w3615 and it wont boot error message is pxe e61

I disable the lan boot w/no pxe support in the bios and put in a new hard drive 30 gig and it is great now.

I believe the hard drive went bad and it then tried to load an os from a previous network, which caused the PXE error. The true culprit was the bad hard drive.

How can i do a full system restore for my emachines T3656 i dont get the option to press f11 i only get f2 or f10

This indicates you have no resident restore partition on your hard disk drive. The easiest way is to put your Windows OS CD in the PC and startup. It should ask if you want to start from CD. Say yes and follow the instructions. You may need to press F2 or 10 to change the bootup sequence to start from the CD if it doen not do it automatically.

Quick question or 2

If this is an IDE drive, you will have to make sure the jumper on the end of the "new" drive is on "Slave".

IDE drives have a cable about 2 inches wide. This is probably what you have. The above link is for IDE drives.

Here is a link to help out: http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading/install-hard-drive.htm

(SATA drives have cables about 1/2 inch wide. You shouldn't have to worry about jumpers with them.)

Here is a youtube video that may help also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnEga6ga5hM

Once the computer recognizes the drive, you can format it by double-clicking "My Computer" on your desktop. Right click on the icon for the new drive and select "Format..."
