Sv007p, Uh, yeah, I could, but I'm probably too far away. I've repaired 3 with same symptoms as yours has. At least you read about the flashlight diagnostic trick!! It' not completely DEAD, YET! Leave it off for now. It will not get better by itself. If the last time you were using the monitor, like say a week ago, and it still had a "clear, sharp, bright" screen then there is hope. What has happened is that the INVERTER circuit that provides 800-1300v to light-up the horizontally hung Cold-Cathode-Fluorescent-Tubes has failed, or the Switch-Mode-Power-Supply has a degraded 12-20v dc output. Without some basic soldering tools, solder, meter, parts source, you will not be capable of effecting a repair on your own. If you do or don't meet the criteria above, get back to me and I'll tell you other options that are open to you as a consumer. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aol.com BYE for now.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

ProView 19" Flat Screen Monitor comes on with

Hello,

The dark or black picture is caused by a failure in the back light power supply. The problem can be corrected by replacing a few parts called capacitors on the board. Replacing them will require a little soldering but anyone can do it. Here is a link to a page that shows what needs to be replaced.

White horizontal lines flicker and screen goes off.

check the wiring inside the monitor, pull the sceen out and move the wires with the screen on so you can see when it's working. then tape the wires where it works.

I have a proview monitor PL926WBI Model 900W

It seems to be that something gets hot inside after a few minutes of operation of the monitor. So I placed a small fan so that air flows thru the monitor and that did it. What gets hot inside , I don't know.

I have a proview 900w and it comes on but only for a couple seconds then the backlights turn off. Does anyone know how this might be fixed?

check your signal cable from your computer or the port itself. one of those might have a problem causing the monitor to go off.

thanks

Proview 900 series black flat panel monitor

Same problem, and solution 1 given here fixed my Proview 900W. A few of the 470uF caps on the power board were oozing dielectric probably due to overheating. Hopefully the replacements will hang in there for a couple more years...
