Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer
Please help, I have only had my new washer 9 days and already having an issue with my machine, it will not start after pushing the start button, it will only display a F 01 error code, and after reading the manuel, the trouble shooting section explains a possible fix but, that is not working and I am very upset that I now have to wait three days for a technician to come out to look at the problem and hopefully fix it..... I am very happy with the way it washes the clothes however I am not happy that I am already having problems after 9 days of use! Any info is appreciated!
There is a tech sheet inside your washer that explains all the error codes. You will have to remove the lower panel under the door to access it. Its usually mounted to the inside of the lower panel on along the interior walls of the cabinet. There will be instructions on how to enter diagnostics mode and a full list of error codes, followed by procedures to follow on how to correct. Also when you take the cover off you will see a white drain that is covered. Turn it counter-clockwise and remove it - but be prepared with towels because this is the lint catcher and there will be water in it. Clean it out and use a flash light to look up the hose area - I found a lot of loose change in mine.
PS Don't tell Sears I told you where they keep their "secret" error code list. Don't you find that irritating? The repairman would have come to your home, opened the washer, and read the tech sheet right in front of you - then charged you for it. Good luck.

Thanks, I will try this. Our 4 month old washer is stopping with a F24 code problem, still under warranty, but service repair folks are on strike or something I am told.

I had a f-24 code, water temp sensor. I ran the rinse and drain to get my clothes out. I then pulled the power plug out for 2 minutes, and plugged it back in. I restarted the load over again with no problems.
I then followed montycarol's advice to get the tech sheet, and clean out my lint filter. I also checked the same area in my dryer and found it's tech sheet. Both are now with the intrsruction booklet for each.
MANY THANKS to montycarol.

I suggest that you take it back. I just bought an HE2 plus and have been getting F 20 error codes. I had a repair man come and look at it and he said it was something with the control/mother board. I received a new one after they could not fix the problem on the old one and it is still giving the F 20 errors! Kenmore stinks! Take your washer back to the store and get a different brand!

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
Error Code F01 means that the control is either bad
or the wiring harness to the control has some issues. Please check the control
board for any bad components as you might need complete replacement of the
control. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

What happened I just spent 30 minutes on hold with sears with the same problem ...What did the repairman do? A-1 = ?
Had HE2 Plus for a month and the error code F-01 appeared specifying an electrical problem. Need a solution!
My Kenmore HE2Plus will not start. I do not get an error message but when I press and hold down the button it just does not start. We have tried pressing on the door, as if it has a bad connection, moving the clothes and spinning the drum, turning it off then on again, but there is no reason why it finally does start after pressing the button a few times. I am afraid one of these times it just will not start at all. Help
We have the same error code flashing & it almost impossible to get any help.
It almost sound like it would be an easy fix if we could get the codes.
Washer won't start. F-01 code flashing. This is a new Kenmore HE2 front load clothes washer. What can be done to fix this?
We are experiencing the same problem with the F-01 error. The wash had 2 min to go, I pressed the stop button to put the clothes into the dryer before we headed out, and then received the code when I went to start the next load.
We can't complete the directions for trouble shooting specified in the user manual as it states to "press the stop button twice", but the machine shuts right off after the first time we hit it. We've tried turning it off, unplugging it, setting it for different cycles.. nothing works. Every time we hit the start button we get the error code.
Did anyone else find a solution besides returning the washer and buying a new one? I am also having error code F 01. I have had this washer since Dec. 2006 and recently moved. It worked fine for the first 3 loads in our new home, but now it stopped working. I don't know what to do and the manuel doesn't give many options.
My he2 plus failed at 10 months f-01 code and warranty fixed it, 6 months later f-01 is back and sears will not warranty the machine. Sears is no help so far. Any suggestions of a good circuit board?
%@%*&( Same issue here,
1 min + Press stop = F01
Tried everything found on Web = NOGO
This stupid thing is 13 months old, just out of warranty.
I'm pissed!
