When an mp3 player is locked and you try to turn it on, it will shut down again. You have the keys locked by the switch on the back. Flip the button that says "LOCK >" to the left to cover the little red dot and it should be unlocked, then try turning it on again.
On the top of the player there is a slider. When it is showing orange next to it your player is "Locked" so accidental button pushing wont mess up your tunes. Slide it over so it shows only white instead of orange and your player should be just fine.
I had this same problem on another RCA player.. with no instructions manual it was hard to figure out what keys locked meant. Then I noticed a little slider on the side of the player, it has a little icon of a pad lock on it. Once I slid this back, the keys lock problem went away and I was able to listen to my music once again.
My best guess of what keys locked means.. you don't want you mp3 player to turn on when you put it in your pocket with your keys, so you change the slider to be locked, when your sit down and your keys are pressing against your on button, the mp3 player will shut off... as we all have experienced in frustration.. saving your battery.
Perhaps RCA should make this slider bright orange so it pops out and does not blend in so much, or they should put it right next to the on button.
On the back of the player there is a button to the right. Above the button it says Off and below it there is a picture of a key. Switch the button upwards to turn the lock thing off.
You have locked the keys, look for a switch with a red , white or orange lock icon and move it then try to turn it on. The switch should be on the side of the player, either at the top, bottom or sides of the screen.
you should propbably check if you have it in hold if not you should try to format your mp3, you format the mp3 by going in to MY COMPUTER then you right click on your mp3 player drive then it desplays a tool bar click on formatthis errases all music, photos, and videos in the mp3.
