With my illegal HDD problem I had my player replaced by MPIO already once. My new player did well for several weeks... and now the problem returned: illegal HDD.

I can use the player as an external HDD without any problem. So the problem must be found in the software and there's unfortunately nothing we could do about it.

I think, we just bought stylish crap.

Same problem here, It worked great for almost two years! then all of a sudden... illegal hdd... and that beeping thing is really weird..
glad i bought the extended warranty.

I'll probably steer clear of mpio from now on.

Looking through the internet I found another thread with someone who had the same problem as you, and me now (oh the joy).

He said he emailed them, told them the problem and eventually things got sorted out - a replacement and such.

I think if the illegal hdd problem persists, as mine is, there is nothing we can do except complain and hope to get a replacement.

Hope that helps, Alex.
