Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. Its sort of silly, but my father got behind the tv and smacked it. The error message went away, and the tv is working fine now. It wasn't easy for him to get behind it though, it's rather tall and weighs 234lbs. I did manage to find a pdf file of the repair manual for this model at Techlore.com.
