Just recently purchased fax machine. I can send out faxs but cannot receive them.

i need the installation cd for my computer.
When replacing the ink cartridge, the fax machine will not do anything. It makes a crazy noise and gives me a print error. Is there something I can do to make it reset itself besides turn it off and on?
my screen keeps displaying "printer error check paper."
I have turned the machine off -and on again. I have tried the copy/help and stop buttons, but i can't get rid of the message, and I cannot receive faxes.
