If this is a single handle, you just need to turn the water off and remove the insides or guts. You will need to replace the ball because this is where the handle screws into. If it is a 2 to 3 handle faucet, you will need to remove the stem and replace it.

How to fix delta shower single knob faucet

Take handle off (either set-screw from side or bottom of handle, or phillips screw under cap on end of handle), pull off sleeve that's behind handle, unscrew nut that holds cartridge (strap wrench works great) and pull cartridge out.

How do I turn the shower on? I just moved into a place that has a Delta series 1400 Monitor shower handle, a smooth faucet, and NO mechanism whatsoever that I can see for switching from bath to shower. Is...

There should be a dirverter on the tub spout. It will be either a knob to pull up or a ring to pull down on and hold untill the water comes out the shower head.

If there is no dirverter go buy a new tub spout with one.. The prior owners may have installed the wrong spout.

Can't pull up the knob that diverts water from bath to shower

you can try taking it apart, starting with the handle, then the cover, im sure it can be fixed.

Water only comes out shower head, won't come back out faucet. The shower plunger only puts water out shower head, not out faucet.

sounds like the diverter is jamed. it may be in the spout or a button in the escheuchon. if spout try to unjam the pull up knob or the pull down ring. if in the escheuchon remove part and replace.

Water sprays out the diverter

Remove hot/cold button in handle, remove screw/pull off handle. Remove the two screws in the wall plate/remove plate. Use a wrench to remove the diverter assembly. Get new diverter assy and reinstall eveything. You don't need to turn off the water.

My 3 handle bathtub fauset [price pfisher] cycles hot and cold

You will need to either replace center "shower diverter"assembly or a quicker fix would be to remove old tub water fill spout and replace with a "pull up diverter knob" type water spout. Cost about 10 dollars Hdepot Pull Knob to divert water to shower when showering.
