Wont come on

My daughter took a flight and when returning home she tried to powerup her notebook but it will not come on. The power supply light is steady green until plugged into the notebook and then it blinks (steadily) and is not as bright. the notebook worked fine before her trip and while she was there she did not use it at all. she did check it as baggage at the the airport on the return flight. she has no manual or disk for it either. she gave it to me and said if I get it to work its mine...help!

The fact that the light on the power supply is a brighter green and them dims when plugs is certainly a key factor. I would say there are three possible problems. 1) The first problem to check is by far the easiest. Try removing the battery from the laptop and then hooking up the power supply. Do you get the same result. If it works then replace the battery. Problems two and three are unfortunately a lot harder to tell without having a spare power supply. Not to sound stupid but you've either got a problem with the power supply or laptop. If it is the laptop then you'll likely want to toss it out as you would need to send it off for repair. If it is the power supply then that can be replaced fairly cost effectively. Places like best buy and radio shack sell universal power adapters for laptops which could be used to test for the power supply being the issue. Perhaps you could bring it to the tech bench at best buy and ask if they have an adapter you can try before you buy. Radio shack might also let you do the same thing. If all else fails, perhaps you could return the adapter if you purchased it and it didn't solve the problem. Good luck.

My mom gave my daughter Casio ctk551 keyboard adapter has power and we've tried batteries keyboard will not come on noticed a little rust on back plate took off clean with dry cloth nothing any sugges

Rust is an indication that the unit has water or moisture damage. The keyboard should power up using batteries or the adapter. Is the adapter is one supplied by Casio? Perhaps the batteries were/are put in the unit in the wrong direction or polarity? Take the batteries out completely and then try the power adapter. If this fails, I suggest returning the Casio for a replacement.

Lights come on but no fans or powerup

Hello,

Please follow the steps below.

1. Please removed the battery and unplugged the power supply.
2. Held down the power button for 45 seconds.
3. After 45 seconds reinstalled the battery and the power supply and pushed the power button and if it works then you don't need to replace your motherboard.
4. Else try it couple of times or up to five times before it worked if worst comes to worst.

Thanks

I have same problem with HP Compaq Presario V6000. LEDs are lit. Cooling fan stops after a short while. A faint click sound can be heard soon after switching. I tried Ctl Alt Del. But no joy. I gone through the troubleshooting in web. Found follwing remedies.
1. Hardware problem. 2. RAM to be re-seated. Cooling fan to be cleaned. 3 Probable BIOS problem. But I have not yet tried all these. Awaiting to procure proper tools. Thank you Baby Antony
