Question about JVC DR-MX1S DVD Recorder/VCR

1 Answer

JVC DR-MX1S I bought this machine in Belgium, where it worked reasonably well (apart from the flashing blue 'Loading' if it was deprived of power for a while). Now that I've moved to the UK it seems unable to receive any signal and so can be use only for playing pre-recorded material. Does anybody know how I can get it to work here as it did before? Thanks

It's likely to be an incompatible signal. You have PAL (UK) and NTSC (Belgium), the DVDR/VCR combo may not be compatible with PAL causing it to seem like it's not receiving any signal, when in fact it is - but not in a recognisable format. You may try and get an NTSC to PAL signal converter like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-TV-AV-Video-System-NTSC-To-PAL-Converter-Converor_W0QQitemZ270163920912QQihZ017QQcategoryZ32837QQtcZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That'll solve your problem.

Does nothing when plugged in says it is loading and it doesn't

hello,

since your dvd keeps saying itis loading and it is not.

that simply means the lens of the dvd is already weak.

try cleaning it with a lens cleaner,

or better still you can replace the lens.

take care

Firmware crashed, unable to get repair in UK

I also have a faulty unit with discs that hadn't yet been finalised. You can access the discs via your PC. I used a program called IsoBuster by Smart Projects. There is a free demo which you can download. Just google it.

As for the faulty power supply, just scrap the unit and DON'T buy JVC again. Eventually, they will have to listen to the economies of scale.........

I plug it in to mains and all that happens is a white light comes on on front panel it also flickers every now and again?

You almost certainly have problems with the power supply board which fails fairly often in these machines. They are available for around 80 euros, trouble is that having bought one it is not uncommon to plug it in only to find you have another problem. Your best bet is to take it to a big JVC service centre where they will have the spares to try substitute components without you having to buy them first!

JVC DR-M10 DVD Recorder not working

Contact JVC @ 800-252-5722, the "loading" is a known bug and they will fix this defect at n/c even if it's out of warranty period.

JVC DR-MX1S

This machine has a lot of problems. One thing that often works is to turn it off and unplug it for a couple of minutes. Then plug it in again. Then it will say "loading" for quite a while. Leave it alone until it turns itself on. Then it should be okay. If the couple of minutes doesn't work, sometimes unplugged overnight (same method) works, but then you have to reset everything.

JVC DR-MH50S

Just had the 2nd diagnosis for the error - "digital PCB" at a cost of £252 - BONKERS! Have e-mailed JVC to see if they can make the cost of the repair reasonable, got a positive reply they want me to send my proof of purchase, serial no etc. & they'll consider dropping the cost significantly. On top of that just found same model on ebay, ex display £130. baught it, was prepaired to pay upto same for the repair - gunna swap HDD for mine when it arrives, the stuff on there was the main reason i wanted it repaired. Still gunna try to get mine fixed for nowt though through JVC! May as well try for nothing!
