Hello, I have the sony model KP-46WT50C(?) or KP-46WT500 (last digit/alphabet is illegible). Every time I try to power it on, it makes a clicking noise as if it is turning on, but I never get a picture nor any sound. I've noticed the red timer light that blinks on and off, but I do not know what it means. Please help. I haven't had the television 2 years

Re: light blinking...but not coming on
This looks like a problem with the H Voltage or switching power supply section of the TV set. What you need to do is to measure the voltage from the HV transformer to the Anodes of the CRTs with a high voltage probe, and check the voltage output of the switching power supply. What may have happened is a component may have shorted out causing an over-current condition with is triggering the shutdown circuit (These are the relays you are hearing). I would check the Horizontal Output transistor, and the components in that section of the TV.
In addition check the voltage test points on the HV / Horizontal and switching power supply board. This will determine if the section is working or not (most likely not). Make sure you have a schematic, and multimeter and a high voltage probe.
I hope this helps,

blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401, and 402. On some projection models of Sony TV sets, this code means that T8005 (flyback transformer), or the associative components in the high voltage circuits are defective on the D board
It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen. Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while? If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution. Thanks.
The light is blinking a repeating error code. Try to determine the number of blinks before a slight pause as that will be an error code. Then respond to this same post and I will assist you with diagnosing what may be causing the set not to power up.
When Sony TV gets problem it goes to standby as protection mode and LED start flashing. Do you see standby light blinking? There would be 3 seconds interval between blinks so count from pause to pause and let me know. Thanks.
How many blinks is it blinking before it pauses? Let me know your set is going into protective shutdown. It should blink a number of times then pause for a second, then blink again. Try to count the blinks in between pauses. Then let me know
It looks like your green CRT is malfunctioning. You should try to see if the voltages are correct on the socket of the green CRT and check the high voltage on the green CRT using a high voltage probe. Use a schematic diagram to reference these voltages to.
I am positive that the problem is the green CRT or the circuitry leading to the green CRT. Please use caution when checking these voltages.
