I have had this problem and found it to be the tapes are the cause.
Last week this same problem happened and 8 out of 10 tapes are causing this freezing suddenly. the other 2 work fine and brand new tapes work fine too.
I would insert a disk and it would get ejected immediately...didn't even look like the light in the eject button would flash. Rebooting the drive and computer didn't work.
I inserted a disk.
Before it could be ejected, I pulled the plug on the Rev Drive.
I waited several seconds
Re-plugged in the rev drive.
It seemed to read my disk and I was able to use my Rev drive. (So far so good...knock on my wooden head.)
I have the imoga 100 external zip drive and there's a pin hole on the front panel. that if you straighten a paper clip and stick in the whole, it should manually eject the disk.
send me the old drive and cartilage. I will get the data off and put it on dvd's and send the dvd's back to you and keep the drive and cartilage for parts. I have several rev 30's and rev 70'S.
Iomega has quite a bit of customer help info:
https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com
Click: Other Products
Then Click: JAZ 2GB
Then Click: Windows XP
Then Click: More Answers...
Then type in "search text" area: "insert a disk"
Then Click: Search
Then Click: "Please insert a disk into drive X" error message when inserting or trying to read an Iomega disk
If that website's search engine doesn't help, you can also log into:
