Very annoying squeaking / creaking during agitation

We've had this machine about 5 yrs, after about 2.5 years, the machine began a very annoying squeaking / creaking noise during agitation. It drives me crazy, so I am determined to tear into to fix it. However, I'd like this to be an educated adventure. It will make the noise if you open the lid and move the tub by hand. Machine is level and not overloaded or unbalanced.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Heavy duty 20 lb..starting to make squeaking noises during agitation only

The bearings in the agitator are worn out and need replacing.

I have a LG WT5001CW top load washer. Recently the agitator plate began to loosen and fall off during spin cycle. Now when spin cycle starts and the tub turns it squeaks and grinds then I get a UE alarm.

The agitator has a gear like attachment that meets the long shaft up the center of the tub. If the alignment is off and not exactly in place the agitator will move or the gear-like part will wear down, become rounded, or break. The agitator must fit perfectly and tight. A nut on top (under the cap) has to be turned down tight.

Left side its sqeak when i peddle

My Precor EFX 546 elliptical trainer began squeaking when my weight was on the pedals. I thoroughly cleaned the track and wheels with Windex and then used my finger to apply a thin coat of teflon based lubricant (Tri-Flow brand) to the outer surface of the wheels. After 2 applications of lubricant, the squeaking has been eliminated completely. Hope this helps!

Squealing during agitation...drum seems to be 'sticking' ....

could be several things if it is an intermittent squeak that goes in time with the agitation then you have bad brakes if it is constant then you may have a bad pump or object in the pump

Clacking sound on agitate cycle only, no noise on spin

The agitate cycle uses the motor and a spring to function. The spring is made in pieces and asit gets older some of the sections of the spring break. To verify that it is not a loose drum. Ope the washer during the wash cycle andhold the drun by hand. If the noise stops lool for the loose bolts or replace the springs, they may be weak after that many years.
Good luck!

Installed new belts, machine will not agitate

Transmission is bad. The transmission is not used during a spin but it is used during agitation. Check your warranty, the transmission maybe covered for 10 years for parts only and 5 years for parts and labor

Washer squeaks really loud while agitating. Drains great 6yr old

Could indeed be the belt or at worst it could be thr main bearing getting dry and gradually seizing up. Hope it,s the belt!!

Noise during spin

You have something stuck in the drain pump.

Squeaking Top Load GE Washer

I bought a new GE Washer GTWN5050MWS yesterday. From the first load it squeaked each time the tub moved back and forth (no agitator in the infusion type) It is a quick squeak and kind of resembles a cat getting it's tail under a moving rocking chair. I checked the entire owners manual and it describes several noises and not one of them describes what my new washer is doing. It does not make this sound except for when it is in the wash cycle. Spinning is quiet, and during the agitation of the rinse cycle it is a much more subdued squeak. But during the wash cycle it is not acceptable.

I called GE this morning and they told me it was normal operation for all infuser types of their washer to make this noise. Tomorrow I will be taking it back for a full refund.

We purchased this machine because our 2-year old front loading GE washer broke down (discharge pump I think) and to get it fixed usually takes a couple of weeks. We thought it might be better to have a 2nd washing machine instead of paying the laundry mat. It took a month to get the last one declared unfixable in 2008. Maybe I was wrong. But this is very bad luck to have a brand new washing machine squeak so loud out of the box.
