CN North America NT 2015.40 ([1] Lower 49 States NE)
NE = NORTH EAST... California is not in the North East of the United states. This device only has a small internal memory so you need to use a 4 GB memory card and load maps to that card with MapInstall:
Any standard SD card will work (not micro SD unless you have the standard SD adapter) and you will need a 2GB card. You can find them on eBay or most electronics/PC retailers.
You can zoom the map out and then use your finger to navigate the map to France. When you are hovering over France zoom into a city and see if there is any detailed coverage.
You can also go into the "Where to?" menu and select A point of interest category. Then click the near button at the bottom of the screen and choose a location in France. Then complete the search and you should see POI's for that area.
If it does not have France you can get it at a good price here. Garmin Europe Mapping Have fun in France
As long as you can see the software on the list of Maps, you'll be fine. It wont show any maps right now because there are no European maps for your present location, you need to be in Europe for the maps to show on the screen.
Hi,this will be dependant on the sd card and it,s maps database. if you have usa maps. this probably does,nt include maps of canada. check nuvis site, to see if canada maps are available for download or purchase.Mike @ Compurepair.
Eventually managed to speak to a man at Garmin who confirmed that it was not loading any European maps because it didn't have enough spare memory to load them all. He said that he would email me instructions for freeing up sufficient memory, the email never arrived but I decided to delet all the voice languages that were no use to me and all the other language 'help' files and tried again - it worked.
At no point did I get a 'insufficiant memory' warning, which would have been very helpful, nor is there any guidance for how much memory will be required when embarking on the update. Take note Garmin...
No. When you plug in the SD card, the Nuvi will load the map from your SD card. Once you get to the main menu, select the wrench symbol, then the map symbol and then "map info". You should see both the US and Europe map. Make sure the Europe map is checked. You can uncheck the US map. This is how you switch between maps. The reason why you have to have the extra map on the SD card is because the Nuvi can only have one map on it's internal drive, one at a time.
I'm trying to upload the new city navigator europe nt 2008 but don't have enough space to do the operation, How can I delete the existing map's that are on the nuvi 660 euro? Can I just delete the file gmapprom.img ?
The Navigator memory card will come with the a countrie's maps. Maybe you need to take the memory card into the computer and download more maps. Also try to erase the nt middle east location and start over.

You cannot replace American maps with European maps. Garmin does this in order to protect the European retailers. The European SD card eliminates the need to load the maps into the 660, however, if you need to use the card slot to store extra data such as MP3s then you might be better off buying the 670.
