Dell 6000 laptop screen blanks out - bought new screen

Purchased display screen to replace screen that was blanking out in bottom 1/3. Not sure how to replace the screen; frame around new screen has different tabs. Is there an easy to understand guide/manual on how to replace the display screen? Thx!

Thx for all the advice. However, the problem is that the old LCD has fastening points at the top & on the bottom for the inverter, but the new LCD doesn't have those. Does that mean I bought the wrong replacement LCD? And if so, how do I specify exactly which replacement one I need? Thx again:)

What solution because dell notebook blank display after reboot

If the Dell logo comes up on the screen and goes to blank display, the problem is in the hard drive or windows files have been corrupted, remove the hardware and reseat it back in place, sometimes this will restart it, if no change! reload your operational system with the disc if available to factory setting. If none of these work the hard drive needs to be assessed for replacement.

My Dell Inspiron 6000 (which I think I bought in

Have you tried this:
1. After removing the battery
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 sec.
3. Put back the battery
4. Turn it on

if this doesnt work, there could be a problem with your operating system. Try accessing safe mode if you can login .TAP F8 continously on the dell logo screen, and it will open advance boot options. (Just select safe mode) If safe mode boots properly try running system restore to restore it back to the previous date where your computer is still booting to windows. Hope this helps

I think I need to replace the video card on my Dell Inspirion 6000. Is this possible without huge expense. I am not 100% sure replacing the video card will make the laptop work but the screen is blank and...

If the system has ATI Video, then there is a discrete video card that can be replaced. If the video is Intel Integrated, then you will need to replace the motherboard.

Video cards available on Ebay

My Inspiron 6000 screen is blank. I can get an image on a monitor through the serial port, but when on its own, the notebook screen is black. I have noticed that there is a brief flash when booting up, but...

Hi ,

1. You can check the display on external monitor>If the display is blank on external monitor also, its pretty clear that there is an issue with system board

2. If the Exernal monitor comes up fine, it will be an issue with the display of the laptop, you can cross check the issue by booting the computer to BIOS, IF you get same response on BIOS as well. Its an issue with the Display itself you can replace the display panel.

Hopefully, its covered under warranty ;)
