This has been happening to me, lately, and as time goes on, it gets worse and worse and worse (or worser as we're apt to say in The South).
I called Oly and they told me that I was probably going to have to send it in (or trade it in with their new trade-up program --

Every picture I take appears black. At first it would still take an occasional picture but now every pic is black--the shutter also sounds different form normal.

I had this same problem last year and had to send it in for service. The camera has worked great for about a year, and last week I started getting the black pictures again. Something internal has gone bad and the only way I know to fix it is to send it back to Olympus. It cost over $200 last time. I'm now looking for a different camera. If you do find a cheaper solution, please let me know!

Can you down load the images to the computer to see if they are actually there?
and if so, will they lighten in an image editor if you have one installed
Otherwise this could be an intermittent shutter problem or speed setting going astray?
Look like it may be a trip to the Olympus Hospital

This image will not be recoded when shooting still photos, but it will be recorded wihen shooting movies.Read you owner manual and adjust the MENU, according with your o. manual.Otherwise you must go the repair shop

Friends are reporting a display image in messenger that I am not seeing. How do I delete it when I can't even see it?

To change your display image on yahoo messenger follow these steps:
Login to your messenger,
At the top left corner is an icon which looks like a face directly under the messenger tab of the messenger,
Click on the face icon,
An extension comes out with manage display image,
click on display image and decide if you want to share an image or not as well as change whatever display image shows there.
Hope this is helpful

How do i remove the time and date at bottom right corner of picture.

Manual can be downloaded free from here ....

http://safemanuals.com/annexe_POWERSHOT%2020A550%2020CAMERA%2020USER%2020GUIDE%2020ADVANCED%2020_CANON_POWERSHOT%20A550-_E.htm

Basically the date stamp can be turned on / off as an option on the RECORD menu. Page 33 of the manual explains it (with pictures).

Note that if the option is turned on, it states that the date / time is permanently embedded in the picture.

Hope this helps

If its a new photo have it ready to pick up on your desktop, unless its easy to find in your system

Open messenger window.
Left click on your avatar picture
Select "display image"
Select "share my picture"
Select "select"
Select a random picture from the gallery - by clicking on it - ( to make sure it changes & your Flashplayer is ok )
Select the picture you want to display, if its not one in the gallery, click "browse" and find the photo you want - double click on it, make sure its in the display panel. Note sometimes the image will be blacked-out. This will either be a flashplayer problem or the file you selected the photo from has numbers or / ., etc - you can try renaming the file.
Click "OK" in top photo panel
Make sure "share my picture" is still selected
Click "OK"

When you open the chat window the display images may be hidden - look for the little "head and shoulder" icon with an arrow pointing to it on the right hand upper side of the window - click on this to show pictures.

Black screen for Shooting Canon S3 IS

I have a similar problem with my Canon S3 IS. Dark/black LCD in Shooting mode. However, I can view my existing photos in Display mode. I was about to spend money to get a Panasonic TZ5. Somehow I bumped into a solution post for S2 IS. Here is the link:

I tried their solutions twice and it WORKS. My S3 is working fine now.

Blank LCD screen on shooting mode, but does show settings. Will not take pictures. Replaying mode works, shows pictures taken before screen went blank. New batteries. What is going on??? Is it...

The Display button manually turns the LCD display on or off to save batteries. If you accidentally had turned the LCD off, It should only take one press of the button to turn it back on and leave it that way. As such, it's not you but the camera. The A570 IS is relatively new. Your camera is likely still under warranty. If so, contact Canon for warranty repair (see the following link):
