Question about Vulcan Heating & Cooling
SOURCE: Have a 20yr + old vulcan gas heater and I cannot turn pilot off
Hi, If you are talking about the knob on a gas valve that you use to light the pilot and turn it off also, you have to turn the knob either ccw or cw to turn it off. To light the pilot is when you turn the knob to pilot and push down and hold it, light the pilot while you continue to push it down for a minute, and then slowly release it and pilot will stay lite. So, if this is the type you have just turn knob one way or the other and it will shut off. If you do not have this type set up, just turn off the gas to the furnace at the flex line as there should be a hand valve by code and by law that supplys gas to you're furnace. You can shut it off there and the pilot will also shut off.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7
PS If you don't have either one of these shut off's, on the main gas valve it self, you should have a place marked pilot adjustment. Pop the small chrome cap and insert a very small screw driver to turn it cw to shut off pilot. This would be you're last choice.

SOURCE: pilot on, gas fires up, no fan comes on.
Sounds like you are talking about the indoor fan that circulates air through house. Turn the unit off and make sure the fan rotates freely. Next check the capacitor for the fan. If it looks swollen its probably bad. If it doesn't look swollen then you will need a multimeter to check it with. If that's ok then check the fan relay. Let me know what you find.

SOURCE: Hi I have Vulcan
When on, Is the pilot strong and blue flame? If its yellow the flame is being pulled away from the T/couple or Pilot generator it will cause the unit to shut down.If the pilot light is strong it could be the T/couple or pilot generator.
It could also be the high limit switch kicking the pilot off but that's usually the case.
you should have atech look at the problem as there are other reasons that could effect its operation

SOURCE: Hi, Vulcan " burwood " gas space heater.I have
As long as the burner works it is unlikly that the thermostat is your problem. It is more likly the fan limit switch needs replaced.Unfortunatly I am having no luck finding a wiring diagram for this model so I can't tell you where it is at,but I think that's the problem. Thank you. Sorry I'm not more help
