Recovery mode won't help you unless you have the recovery files to go with it. Most likely you will need to re-install the firmware on to the device. Download this "recovery tool" from the SanDisk website and run it with your device connected in recovery mode. Make sure you select "format" when prompted. Tool is here; http://sandisk.com/assets/file/downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe Recovery mode - power off device. Slide "hold" switch into hold position. Press and hold "record" button and then connect to PC.(keep record button pressed until after connected to pc) Hope this helps.

My Sansa e280 is "recognized" in Windows media player but it shows no files even though it is half full. So I can't delete files from WMP! I can't seem to have any luck in either computer I use and I've...

This player supports two different USB modes. If the songs were added with the other method, you need to use that other method to delete the songs. Read up on it. Common headache, easy solution.

How do I delete duplicate songs from my e280 song list?

You can have a try Leawo Tunes Cleaner. Just follow below steps. If you still have issues or have a massive music library in iTunes or other music folders that requires a more powerful and less time-consuming option, the third-party software like Leawo Tunes Cleaner can help you. It can not only automatically clean up duplicate songs in iTunes, but also automatically delete duplicate songs in other music folders. If you want to automatically remove duplicates in iTunes, the automatic duplicate remover might have the answer for you.
1. After kicking off Leawo Tunes Cleaner, click the "Clean-up Duplicate" entry. The program provides 2 duplicate scanning modes: Quick Scan mode and Deep Scan mode. Select one of them to scan duplicate songs.
2. You could delete duplicates in iTunes music library by directly clicking "Scan iTunes" button or click "Add" button to load music files for duplicates removing.
3. After loading source music files, click the "Scan" button on the upper-right corner to start scanning duplicates. The program would display all duplicates clearly and suggest what to remove. You could decide which duplicates to delete by checking them and then click the "Remove" button to remove duplicate songs.

Not letting me add songs

Very cool

ok so i called 1-866-sandisk and she told me how to fix it. you just flip the key lock at the top so you see orange, then hold down the record button. then you should get some sort of message on the screen. then you plug it in and under my computer a file should show up. you open it and make a folder in it called sansa.fwm (i think thats the right folder name, if not, try sansa.tmp or email me). then you unplug it and it should say formatting or something like that. once its done it should work.

GO TO SETTINGS AND PLACE IN MSC MODE.

MAKE SURE UNIT HAS THE LATEST FIRMWARE.
-GO TO SANDISK SITE-

REBOOT AND IT SHOULD WORK LIKE NEW OR BETTER FOR YOU.

At least this is what i ended up doing to fix mine & it took me a while to figure it all out so i wanted to post it up for you all.

Bad track error. songs arent deleting after reformatting and resetting multiple amounts of times.

There are 2 ways to format an mp3 player - if you were formatting the mp3 player from "My Computer," then try reformatting from Windows Media Player instead - I have a "tips and tricks" entry on How to Format an Mp3 Player for details

If that doesn't work, then double-click on My Computer, double-click on the Sansa player, and go to the various folders that it lists - music, voice, etc. Delete the songs ONLY - do not delete the dat, bat, ini, inf, or other system files

Sansa e280 freezes and can't get songs on

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

E280 will not charge

has anyone managed to find a solution to this problem? everytime i connect my sansa to the computer via the power cable or i try charging it using a wall charger, the battery bar doesn't move and neither does the computer recognise the device. i seriously don't know what to do with the mp3 player anymore. i tried restarting it or doing the whole recovery mode thing but both methods were unsuccessful. i spoke to one of the sansa team online and they said that the player is "data corrupted" and that i should purchase a new one. ive been using sansa player for over 2 years now and ive never had this problem before. anyone could suggest anything?

Formated the SanDisk Sansa E280

You dragged & dropped files in recovery mode? Recovery mode is only for re-installing the firmware or formatting the device if it is unresponsive. If you are wanting to drag and drop files onto the device, the music needs to be put into the Music folder on the device. If you do not see the Music folder, you will need to enable hidden files and folders on your PC. Best of Luck. p.s. - you can add to this question this doesnt work.

When i connect to the computer, i can add songs, but the songs on it dont show up

I don't know if you've inadvertently deleted the music folder, but that's what I did, when I deleted all the folders by mistake, thank heavens for in-store warrenty, they replaced it with another one. What I noticed on my replacement is synchronizing with media player doesn't work, it creates ghost folders and thinks music is there when it isn't, I don't understand it. Solution: open two windows for my music and sansa e280 music, then just drag and drop the folders; what I noticed is that in my music the folders are named by artist, and I prefer to see them by album, but when I view them in the player, I see the albums with the tracks in the right order.
