Phone was dropped in water. After 5 hours of drying and then being recharged, the keyboard will light up but the screen remains dark. Help?
It is more than likely that your cell phone battery was ruined. I know it's hard to not have a phone but I suggest putting your phone with the back off in a baggie of dry rice for 24-48 hours. You will need to get a new battery. I get mine online at http://www.batteries4less.com. They have a warranty and free shipping. Also a return policy in case you fried your phone trying to turn it in when it was still wet. Honestly probably just the battery though. Good luck!

You took all the right steps, including the rice. Unfortunately, even the rice method doesn't always catch the moisture before it does it's damage. The next step is to take the phone back to the store where you purchased it and have them see if it is salvageable. The other thing to check is where you stand with your contract. You may be able to replace the phone by extending your contract. good luck.

wrap it real tight in a paper towel...it works.

If the phone is not completely dry when you turn it on, it will usually ruin it. If you are really lucky, the battery contacts corroded and your phone will work if you clean them.
I have rescued phones from water damage before by disassembling the phone and removing the battery and then drying the phone completely before trying to turn it on.
I'd start looking for a new phone. You can still use your old one for the parts and accessories.
I wish that I could have given you a solution that makes your phone work again.
Thanks,
Tim
