I have a Magic Chef mcbc580dbt beverage cooler that I've had long enough for the warranty to expire. The temperature will not stay constant. The compressor will kick on and it will cool to the desired temperature of 41 F but will hold for 2 days at most. When it begins warming up the compressor does not kick in like it should. I've removed the circuit board from the temperature display and there are no holes or burned circuits. From what I've read it may be the ptc relay (http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Start-Relay/6R8MG/1795921) attached to the compressor but I do nor hear any 'clicking noise' that other people with the same problem have described. Do I go ahead and order the part? Are there any other potential solutions. Just looking for some advise before I order a ptc starter.

There a couple of power supplies that run the fan, and you probably have a bad power supply, that needs replace or repair, try changing out the lectronlytics caps on the power supply modules .

My Magic Chef 154 can mini fridge keep building up ice

The issue you are describing with your Magic Chef Beverage Cooler, where you are getting ice build-up on the inside top panel, could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Check the thermostat: Make sure that the thermostat is set to the correct temperature and that it is functioning properly. A faulty thermostat can cause the unit to freeze up.
  2. Check the defrost system: Make sure the defrost system is working properly. If the defrost system is not functioning properly, the unit will freeze up.
  3. Check the door seal: Make sure that the door seal is tight and that there are no gaps. If the door seal is not tight, cold air can escape and cause the unit to freeze up.
  4. Check the condenser coils: Make sure that the condenser coils are clean and not clogged with dust or debris. If the condenser coils are dirty, the unit will not cool properly and can freeze up.
  5. Check the fan: Make sure that the fan is working properly and that it is blowing air through the unit. If the fan is not working, the unit will not cool properly and can freeze up.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or may recommend a qualified technician to repair the unit.
It's worth noting that if the unit is still under warranty, you should contact the manufacturer to have it repaired/replaced.

My beverage cooler MCBC58DST wont stay cool after it reaches target temp.

Throw it out and get another model from another company. Their units are junk!
They last a year, at best. Them and Magic Chef are one and the same...so you may have to bite the bullet and get a real unit.

Good luck. I speak from experience...I've had four now. Complete junk!!

The Magic Chef Refrigerator Electronic Thermostat - SF-WB-4/CM will only cool to 45 degrees, Is it possible to change out the thermostat with another factory unit fom a standard mini frig ?

Putting another thermostat would not help it be cooler it actually stop it from functioning all together if it's not recommended by the manufacturer

Magic Chef Wine Cooler Model #MCWC50DBT will not hold correct temperature. Temps fluctuate between about 45 to often 70 degrees F. Also, often get an "EEF" error message.

Mr. Lindquist: We are experiencing essentially the same problem. Have tried replacing the temperature control board without change. Would be interested to know if you get a solution.

I, too, have just seen (late June 2013) the "HH" code on my Magic Chef wine cooler (and it is running too cold and I can't reset the temperature). Have you found a solution since your posting of about 1 year ago?
