I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6110us. I'm stuck on Windows Resume Loader Screen. Upon startup a message on the bottom left of the screen says press esc for startup menu, that doesn't work. None of the f key options work. Sometimes I can move the highlighted selection by first running my fingers over all the keys on the right side of the keyboard and then using the arrow keys but the enter key doesn't work either. I've also tried holding / pressing repeatedly the esc and delete keys. This keyboard does not have an insert key or scroll lock key. I do not have a USB keyboard or PS2 keyboard to try. Please help.

My laptop screen goes black after being turned on. First the windows emblems comes up and it says resuming windows, then goes completely black.

Try holding down the power key to force it to power off. Power it back up again and you should get the Windows Resume Loader with the following options "Continue with resume" and "Delete resume data and continue with startup". I can't remember the exact wording of the options, it may be different but you need to select the later or second option "Delete resume data and continue with startup".

Need a recovery disc for Pavilion dv-5 notebook

Hi:
You most likely have a bad hard drive, and a disk set is not going to help you, though you will need it too.
What you need is a new hard drive, a copy of all the drivers for your laptop, which you can download for free from HP. If HP won't send you a copy of the recovery disk, you can use any OEM copy of the same operating system that your laptop has a sticker for, but you won't have all of your programs.
