I too have a power up problem with my Samsung HCL4715W but slightly different from others. Mine does power up shortly with the Timer LED turning ON then blinks 3 full blinks and at the 4th blink it shuts down. During that period the high voltage does come on (I can hear it) and the audio for a split second as well as the inital relay. I'm wondering if this TV worth saving. I will open the back up shortly but thought to see what area I can pin point the problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks You for your post with the area of the problem. I actually took the board and reflowed the solder around the power drawing components (Transistors, Resistors, etc) and the problem is gone. Perhaps just by removing connectors and remating also solved it. All in all I'm back in business. Thank You.Thanks You for your post with the area of the problem. The most common issue in this model is convergence-----if the convergence circuit has railed (this means shorted parts) it can cause the set to do what you describe.
Before I suggest a course of action----what is your skill level with electronic repairs? Can you solder and or do a visual inspection?
Your problem is do to shorted Convergence Ic's which will not let the set power up until problem is rectified. You have a very reliable set there. The Ic's will cost about $25.00 for the pair and a tech can install them reasonably cheap. I do recommend repairing it.
BE SURE THAT THE TIMER HAS NOT BEEN SET FOR AUTO ON/AUTO OFF... THIS IS COMMON AND MANY PEOPLE DO ARE NOT AWARE THAT THEY HAVE TURNED THIS FEATURE ON OR THEIR KIDS HAVE DONE IT.
If your convergence ICs are bad set will not come on 1 of the ICs controls Off/on STKs big black ics replace both STK392-020s use 040s For Parts call 1-800-223-3205. www.electronix.com
Thats a common problem for that chassis You will need the P54A sud deflection board. You can get a new one at the following link with free shipping. Here is the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Disconnect the convergence board and see if the set comes on. If it does, and it probably will, replace the convergence board or the convergence amp IC's. Good Luck
