SOURCE: Garmin GPSMap 60 CSx USB Connection

Actually, I just solved the problem myself...

I went to Garmin's driver download site (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=591) and got the latest USB driver (2.2.1) for the 60C. (Although, it appears that that driver pertains to all Garmin products, not just the GPSmap series or the 60C.) Installation instructions are pretty much standard for Windows drivers, so it's easy.

That: a) Garmin requires special USB drivers for their product is finicky (most USB-connectable products just connect automatically using Windows' generic USB driver), and b) my unit -- which had always worked just fine, and suddenly stopped connecting out of the blue -- remains a mystery. Nonetheless, a driver upgrade was the final step that I needed. (Although, I also swapped USB cables and upgraded MapSource, too, so maybe it's some combination of those things.)

hi there!

with that error message "USB Decive Not Recognized", it means that there might be something wrong with the usb cable you're using or the usb port on your pc. try connecting it to a different usb port. if its the same thing, try using another usb cable.

When I plug the USB cable into printer, computer does not see the printer. I have tried two different cables and ports. HP Tech support told me that there is something wrong with the USB connection port on...

refresh the USB ports:
1. Right click MY COMPUTER
2. Select PROPERTIES
3. Select HARDWARE
4. Select DEVICE MANAGER
5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall
7. Uninstall all entries
8. Reboot your computer
9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects
THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB drive

Please tell me what wrong with my WD passport, it work normal when i connected it to computer, but when it is connected to laptop, it does not work, it does not get any power (no light indicated). Thanks

USB ports carry electricity, as well as data.

While the USB ports on your desktop are OK, the USB ports on your laptop are not sending enough voltage/amperage to power your device.

There exist 'Y-cables' that connect to TWO USB ports on the laptop, and draw power from BOTH ports, to push more power to the device. Try such a cable.

I have a model m01517 5 port usb hub. It has 2 usb cables to the computer, do I use the blue or black connector? I can only get one port to recognize a device plugged in the other four seem to be dead,...

Not sure I understand this hub either. Looks like only one port is a USB 2.0 port, but here is a snippet from the manual......

This iConcepts USB Hub provides the electronic interface between USB devices and the host, It allows up to five USB devices or Hubs to connect an upstream USB Hub or Host port.

Features
• One USB 2.0 port
• 4 Port USB 1.1 and support high speed (480 mbps) and 4 port full speed (12 mbps) operations.
• The USB 2.0 port can operate both USB 2.0 & 1.1 Devices
• USB 2.0 port supports self powered mode and bus - powered mode, indicated by a powered LED .
• Over current detection and protection

If the external hard drive is not detected by yur computer, try first connecting the drive on a different USB port so we can test the USB port and then after that if still not yet detected try a different USB cable to test the cable and after that still not detected connect the drive on different computer so we can see if this is already a hardware problem.....

Printer is connected but does not print

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the following things first---
· The printer cover is closed and the rear access door or optional duplexer is attached.
· The printer is connected to the power source and turned on.
· The cable connections are secure and the cartridges are correctly installed.
· The paper or other media is correctly loaded in the in tray.
Now check the printer cable connection: If the printer cable is attached to a USB hub, a printing conflict might exist. Use one of the following methods to resolve the conflict:
· Attach the printer USB cable directly to your computer.
· When printing, do not use other USB devices that are attached to the hub.
Now verify if the printer is connected to the correct USB port: If the computer is configured to use both the back and front USB ports on the printer, then you might be printing to the wrong port. The computer has two versions of the printer driver: one for the front USB port and one for the back USB port. If you are connected to the back USB port, but select the printer driver that is associated with the front USB port, the printer will not print. In the application that you are printing from, click File and then click Print. The Print dialog box opens. The Print dialog box displays two versions of the printer driver. Select the version that is associated with the port to which you are printing. The issue will be resolved.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

I have an external modem for broadband connection. it connects only via usb i am not able to connect via the phone cable port. what seems to be wrong?

The broadband modem connects to thecomputer using the USB or nework port not the phone cable port.
The network port has 8 wire connectors and whilst they both look similar the network (10baseT) port is wider than the phone port.

You also need to configure or reconfigure the model to let it know which cable you are using to connect the modem to the computer.

Print with usb cable

hi-

when you install the driver, don't connect printer yet to pc. wait for a prompt for you plug in the USB cable so that it will create its own usb vitual printer port, so you mean when you go to printers and faxes, right click on your printer and go to properties then ports, which port has a check mark? it should be usb001 or something then usb virtual printer port.

PC shows no disc in drive E

is this because i used the usb cable for another devide?
- i dont think so. the usb cable that comes with the benQ camera is the usual usb cable. i used it for other devices and still works fine with my camera again. i even used another usb cable from other devices in camera and it works fine.

is it a virus maybe?
- well you can try inserting a different device in that usb port, now if it still cant see it, its probably busted. all your usb ports are on used? wow! how about you try taking some of it out and check those ports for your camera.
