My Amana ABC2037DPS Refridgertor is not keeping items cool. Last time the serviceman came out he went into the back and "RESET" the unit. Does anyone know how to RESET the Refridgerator?

Most likely the coils under the refrigerator need cleaning. Unplug the refrigerator and remove the front, vented cover below the door. With a vacuum cleaner and crevice tool clean the coils off. It may also help the clean off the door gasket and apply a very thin coat of Vaseline. (Don't forget to clean the refrigerator edge that makes contact with the gasket.)

You can purchase special cleaning brushes to do that - BUT since I purchased one, I used it when I first got it and then put it away somewhere and can't find it. So I had to figure something else out, and what seems to work the best is to turn on the vacuum and put on the floor in front of the unit and then use an air compressor blowing it out from the rear. While it does blow dust into the kitchen, it seems to work well as cleaning out the condenser coils.

The freezer is running and is set to the coldest setting but still is not cold enough to freeze our food. Ice has melted and food in the freezer is beginning to thaw.

The condenser coils dissipate heat. If dust and debris accumulate around the coils, your refrigerator may not be able to cool properly, it may run continuously or it may stop completely as a result of an overheated compressor.

1. Make sure condenser is clean.

2. If you have a "rear mounted" condenser (black coil on back) make sure it has enough room around it for air to circulate. Not against the wall and if under cabinet should have about six inches clearance.

.
Rear-Mounted CoilsYou should clean rear-mounted coils once a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Refrigerators are heavy, never tip one forward or backward. Never attempt to move a refrigerator without an assistant.

Vacuum or brush the coils. If coils have a filmy build-up, use warm soapy water to clean them. Take care not to spill or drip water onto the components of the refrigerator.
Floor Level CoilsYou should clean floor level coils at least twice a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Vacuum or brush the coils.
Remove the grill from the front of the refrigerator and use a vacuum with a wand attachment to remove any dust and debris. The grill should snap off and on. Pull firmly toward you and possibly upward to remove the grill. If it does not come off with a modest effort, check for screws or retaining clips that may hold it in place.

Refrigerator is not cooling

Have you cleaned the coils lately? If not, unplug the appliance after you've located the coils. They may be on the bottom or in back. Dust on the coils can hinder the cooling process. I purchased a good quality long handled brush from the Fuller company. Extend the brush carefully into the coil area, twirl and pull out. Do this for the entire coil area. You'll be amazed at the "fun stuff" you'll remove. You may also use the crevice tool of your vacuum cleaner. If your vacuum has a dusting brush that is small enough, that may be used as well. Also, pull the refrigerator out and vacuum the floor under it well . If the cooling doesn't improve, you will probably need to get a professional to check the refrigerant level.

Remove the bottom snap in grille and vacuum out the dirt and dust from the coil and anything else you can reach. You may need to make an extension with paper towel tubes flattened a little and tape to get into the cramped spaces. I use a piece of clear plastic pipe stuck in the suction with a long angled split cut on the cleaning end. Maybe also move the fridge out, vacuum and clean the flooring area also. (And every 6 months)

The refrigerator/freezer is not cooling it has power just will not cool

Try cleaning the dirt off the coils. First vacuum off all you can. If there are a lot of places the vacuum cannot reach, get a refrigerator coil brush at the hardware store and losen the dirt, then vacuum again.

The bottom freezer on my Maytag BR22 is not

Look at the inside back wall of the freezer, If you see that it is built up with frost. You have a defrost problem. If not, check the coils under the bottom, make sure they are clean and not covered with dust. If so clean with vacuum and long brush. If they are clean, check the fan that blows on the compressor. Make sure it's running. If not you have a bad fan. Last be sure the fan inside the fridge is running.

Ge frig model 18-25, how to clean grills under the frig, full of dust and cannot reach with vacuum tool. This grill is about 8 inches behind the floor plate on the front of frig.

Go to the nearest home improvement store and purchase a rat tail brush. This brush is made for the exact problem that you are having. Ask an employee where to get a coil cleaning brush for your fridge It os easy to use and once you get the linrt and debris off the coil it is easily picked up by vacuum Good luck on your repairs
