Question about Panasonic PT-51HX40 51" Rear Projection Television
Unit has ghosting of Blue and Yellow, after trying auto setup I'm able to adjust the Yellow but the blue will not adjust. I understand that somewhere within the unit you can adjust the convergence box, is this true and how do I get to it?
My Akai PT 5598HDI has too much red and is dominant and convergence board IC's has been replaced. No significant result. On the convergence adjustment on for red is very focused in the center and very brigth and dim along the borders while blue is very dim and blurry. Focused has been adjusted. Your thought.

No, there is no such thing as a convergence box. There is a convergence board but it should only be touched by a qualified tech who knows what he is doing. If you suddenly see an arc of color on one or more sides of the picture, and you cannot correct it with the user menu, it means that one of your convergence IC's has burned out and needs to be replaced. A good tech can replace the IC (and fuses if needed) in-house in about an hour and a half. I charge $150 when I fix a set like that but shops in your area will vary so ask around.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com
Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out
Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
