I think it will stay closed with painters tape or gaffer tape. this type of tape is blue or black. it is strong but not super sticky. I also have the same camera. my battery cover broke after the strap got stuck on a door handle to my office and the door kinda crunched it.

Need to replace battery door.

i have not replaced the battery door but have disassembled an S5000 following the service manual

it looks like once you complete the first step 'Removing the R CABINET ASSY' you can withdraw the hinge pin and replace the battery cover without any more disassembly [see attached image]

My battery door is broken I have to put a rubber band around it to hold the batteries where can I find the battery door

Battery doors are almost impossible to find online. I'd contact Fuji by telephone to see if they retail themselves, if not, i'd try and use the broken battery door to somehow replace the elastic band.

Elastics, sticky tape etc etc does not work.
OZwombat has neat solution by making a bar attached with a screw in the tripod connection
604foxtrot replaced half the case which came form a used (broken) camera from ebay.

Fuji Finepix camera fault

Dropped, that's rough. As far as the lens goes, it could be damaged or jammed. The LCD however sounds broken, once the seal is lost the display needs replaced.
In any event, these are not battery related issues.

Battery compartment door is ok but the teeth on the camera are broken. is this repairable?

You would have to replace the inner housing to replace the latches.

Fuji USA might have a fixed rate for this, here is the link to the support page for the S5000: FujiFilm

Battery cover

Hi,
I had a look at my S5000 and see what you are talking about. Those tabs are part of the inner shell, likely expensive to replace if even cost effective. In the past, I have cut the broken tabs off, leaving a flush surface. I then drill small holes and insert large head screws that I file to match the door tabs. It does require some finite work but is possible without disassembly of the camera.
