Backlight problems Hi My daughter push the cover of my toshiba A105 notebook, with 15.4" trubrite LCD. It still working and I can see a faint image. So the LCD is fine but I guess that the backligth blows up. I am not sure if the problem is on the inverter or the lamp. My question is : Is it possible to change the lamp ? Thanks in advance.

There are companies on the internet that do lamp replacement but it is not advisable for the end user to do this.

Toshiba a105 on start up screen is red, then goes black

The Toshiba A105 notebook computer is made for mobile computer users who need optimal processing power. The LCD screen is a 15.4 diagonal widescreen with TruBright technology. The laptop has a fast hard drive access rate that is in the 3ms range for the paging and access of data. There are problems that can occur with the Satellite A105 that can be solved by knowing what to look for when troubleshooting the system.

Black Screen Problem Black screen problems can occur when the Satellite A105 backlight is burned out or the inverter is not working correctly. The backlight can be replaced with a new LCD bulb manufactured for LCD screens. The inverter is a housing unit that controls the voltage to the LCD screen. The inverter must be replaced by a compatible A105 Satellite inverter unit. Power Problems b> During the power-up phase of the laptop, the Satellite A105 will quickly turn off without signing into the Windows Operating Screen. The problem can be due to a faulty power adapter that is not supplying the right amount of voltage to the system board. You can also check to see if the unit that houses the power plug is loose, which also indicates lack of voltage or electricity going to the board for power up operations. Hardware Conflict Problems b> Hardware conflicts can cause system errors or "freezes" by loading a new hardware component into the same hardware I/O address. The Satellite A105 has designated input/output addresses for peripheral devices, such as hard drives, video drivers and other hardware functions. To solve hardware conflicts, use the Control Panel "Hardware" device function to see which hardware I/O addresses is not being used. b> Audio Not Working Correctly b> Loading a new audio program can cause the audio codec for the Satellite A105 not to produce sound. The audio codec can be restored by loading the "restore system disk" for the A105 laptop. The restore menu provides options on certain components that you want to restore. If you pick the option for audio, the program will restore the audio to its factory settings. b> On-board LAN Switch Not Working b> The Satellite A105 is automatically configured to detect T Base 10/100 Ethernet networks. If the laptop does not recognize the on-board LAN switch, check the system setup to examine if the LAN switch is on. If so, a firmware update may be needed to upgrade the BIOS.

Satellite L500 monitor is completely black. One can faintly see the welcome and password bars

Hi,
Try to go to Toshiba Power Settings in the control panel and change the lcd brightness from there. If this won't work, this may be an LCD backlight issue and you would need to have a professional to change it for you. If it is under warranty, send it to toshiba for replacement.
Hope this helps.

Display Shows on External Monitor, but very faint on laptop screen. Bright when first starts up but then as it boots into windows it is dark almost black

It's a bad backlight tube inside your LCD screen if it lights up and then dims down. Replacing the screen would be the most obvious thing to do. Replacing the backlight tube is also possible, but it requires a level of expertise that few of us have.

Toshiba A105 - S4334 laptop, imediately on startup the screen goes so dark I can't see anything but a shadow of the screen,if I clsoe lid and open again I can see the display but only for a few seconds.Is...

Hello wall flower hi, when you turn on the laptop, did you see the start up screen clearly? can you read words on the screen, and then it goes dark? If this is the case, check first the Fn key with the corresponding display for projector, (usually Fn+F5) this combination key is used to display the content of your computer to the LCD or Projector, IF not such a case, it may be problems with your laptop inverter board that powers the backlight. Check your bios settings also.

My Toshiba Satellite A105 screen comes on for a little bit, flickers and then shuts off. However I can faintly see the screen, and the laptop works fine when hooked up to the external monitor. Wondering...

If you can still view screen if you view it in an angle or spot a flashlight on screen. Then, definitely it is a problem on backlighting, might be loose connection, inverter giving up or cfl giving up.

Hope this helps

Just replaced a cracked screen in a toshiba a105-s4074....when i turn it on i can barely see the screen....it is very dim.....when i plug the old cracked 1 up it works fine....any suggestions?

If you see a dim image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.
Connect an external monitor to the laptop and power it up, if you see a clear image on an external monitor, this means your video card is OK.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

A105 LCD problem

I don't know where this thread was originated, but your laptop has only one inverter board.

The inverter is a small board that powers the AC lamp that provides backlight to LCD.

Display shutdown

The next time this happens, try to manually operate the lid switch a couple of times. These switches can go bad and allow the unit to go into hibernation mode.
