We live in Pennsylvania and we took our Garmin Nuvi 660 to California. It worked there for a while . Then it lost satellite connections. From then on up until today (that's over a month now) it still can get any satellite feed/connection & we're back in PA already. How do we acquire back that satellite connection?

I have purchased my GPS in Dec.2006 and it will not aquire sattelites.I paid $1024.00 incl. taxes for it at that time and am quite dissapointed in the short performance of it.I realize they have dropped significantly in price and I can get a recond. one for $327.00 incl. taxes. Should I abandon this product and get another one? P. Schlecht

I had the same problem with my Nuvi 660 where it wouldn't see any satellites. I connected an external antenna and it started to work again.

Trying to contact Garmin to see if there is a recall on this since so many people are having problems with it.

I've tried master resets and it does not fix the problem. Only fix is to buy a $30 garmin reciever extension and attach it to the side of your flip up receiver. This is the only fix.

Try this and see if it fixes your problem...first disable bluetooth then follow these steps.
1. Power off the unit.
2. HOLD down the power button and you will see "Pre Boot Mode" appear on the lower part of the display. KEEP HOLDING the power button down and the display will flicker, do this until the pre boot mode message disappears. This seems to take a long time (60 seconds at least).
3. Once the pre boot mode message disappears release the power button and your device will perform some activites to recover from the problem.

Make sure you have a clear, wide view of the sky - the GPS needs to have a direct view of at least 3-4 satellites to triangulate your location. If there are tall trees or buildings around it won't be able to.

My garmin 350nuvi will not acquire sattelites

Make sure to flip your antenna horizontally or 90 degrees and not vertically or 180 dgrees. I see to many people try to use their older nuvi this way and it does not function well.
Try also updating your unit with the latest firmware from Garmin, this helps sometimes.
You may have moved to a location that is far away from the last location your Garmin nuvi 350 was last use, try to keep your unit on for 30 minutes or more to see if it will acquire GPS sattelites.
Last, certain vehicles have shielded windshields and GPS does not work well with these windshield, this can be eaisly verify by simply taking your nuvi 350 out of your vehicle and turn it on with a clear view to the sky, if that still does not work, it could be a defective GPS receiver or GPS connection in which case you should consider sending it in to Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc in San Jose CA or Garmin.
You may also consider replacing your nuvi 350 with a newer model nuvi with fresher map.

Good luck

Garmin Nuvi 660 cannot acquire satellites

Hi I had this problem and its an antenna fault, give garmin a call and see if yours is still under warranty, if it is they will tell you to take it back to the retailor who will call garmin for a RA Number and they will replace it there and then. If your warranty has run out then call garmin to ask about repairs

Garmin Nuvi 660 Can not locate Sattelites

Please read the solution that resolved this problem for someone else. Most likely, you have already tried this. However, the antenna of your Nuvi 660 is the same as the 3xx Nuvi series. I know this because I have worked on them.

If the above procedure does not work for you, the entire antenna assembly will need to be replaced.
The other option is to purchase an external antenna for your Nuvi and plug it into the external antenna port (gold connector) on the Nuvi antenna assembly.

Best wishes,

Garmin 660

If you start it up and are located in the place where the pin code was set, then the unit should unlock once it acquires sufficient satellite signals.

Garmin Nuvi takes a long time to Acquire satellite

No. 98% of the time it took 45-56 seonds for your NUVI 660. Thats the compagny set up time acquisition and it did very well.

Be sur you had your flip antenna parallel to earth surface.
660 has THE BEST SIRF Chipset for acquiring satellite.

I had 2 NUVI 660 since 2 years. It work much better than those new 7xx series who it really took 2-3 minutes to acquire satellite.

Be sure you update your version to the last one.
