Remove valve cover and make sure rockers are moving when turning over, you may have missed the lifter when installing, it happens, also check valve gap .004 int and .006Ex. Thanks for using fixya.

Dodge Cummins 23 valve my pushrods is so tight it wonts spend

now i know sweet nothing about this engine ,never worked on one .I am only a back street cowboy ,,,,but i did do 6 yrs at nightschool and this is what i was taught in the year dot ,showing my age here but who cares ,now count the number of cylinders ,,,assuming its 6 cylinder but it doesnt matter ,,,,now 6 cylinder add up the tappets =12 so its 12+1 = 13 -----simple ??? explaination with 1 down you adjust 12 ---1+12=13 2 down adjust 11 ---2+11=13 3 down adjust 10----3+10=13 now hopefully you get the idea ,as for setting then i would go fo 10 inlet 14 exhaust .which is about right on most older engines ,unless you have high lift GT cam which you havent so 10 and 14 and it will run like a dream .Now this rule applies to all engines so a 4 cylinder its the rule of nine ,6 cyl its rule of 13 and 8 cyl its rule of 17 .work on all engines .easier with a starting handle but a ring spanner on the bottom pulley will do ,showing my age again here ,starting handle ?

Installing push rod Mitsubishi Eclipse

The engine is a overhead cam engine so no push rods are fitted
the first thing to check will be the starter motor solenoid then the starter motor for operation
anything else will require the engine to be removed to check the timing and why the engine won't crank

Honda 13 hp won't start...back fire's

Assuming that the engine has not been taken apart and timing is set correctly. Have seen this often. Usually valve adjustment. Adjust valves as per manual so that compression release is working. If compression release is not working after adjustment check for faulty cam.

Craftsman 16 HP Electric start 41" mower - on a overhead valve briggs and stratton two stroke engine the hollow push rod bent. We pulled the head and everything seemed in working order. The replacement...

On any pushrod engine you have to make sure that the timing is correct or nearly correct when first firing it up, if you had the cam in the wrong position the pushrod had no place to go when the cam lobe came around=bend push rod.

Engine worked fine last week and for 3 minutes

IF THE ENGINE STILL TURNS OVER YOU MAY BE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES ON THE OHV ENGINES PULL THE VALVE COVERS AND SEE IF ALL THE TAPPET RODS ARE THERE IF NOT THIS COULD BE WHAT IS BOUNCING AROUND INSIDE
WORST CASE IF ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER THE CONNECTING ROD TO THE PISTON COULD BE BROKEN

Briggs&straton model28n707 type0173-01 won't start

Ours did the same thing. It turned out to be a bent push rod. The intake valve keeps seizing after it's shut off. We free the valve, straighten the push rod and it will run till we shut off. Then same thing. Valve seizes and bends the push rod. We have a call into Sears to see if warranty will fix.....
