On top freezer works fine, fridge compartment below is not cold.

Ice cream, everything is fine inside the top freezer of my 17.6 cu ft GE fridge. In the bottom, fridge compartment, it's room temperature, which I didn't really notice until 3 milks in a row spoiled; them I finally touched the shelves and bottles and they were not cold. I did have the freezer pretty over stuffed with bread, which I have not removed most of. And the frost free has almost from the start dripped into the fridge... a repair man said that was common with GE. But in the past few weeks, the container I keep in the fridge to catch the dripping has not been filling up.

GE 17.2 freezer on top fridge on bottom. Freezer is cold, but fridge is warm. Help!

Is there any frost buildup on the rear panel inside the freezer? If so you have a defrost problem of a bad defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost timer/ control board. If no frost then you probably have a clogged defrost drain. Remove the rear panel to access drain hole.

Defrost the unit. The fridge section cannot cool if the freezer is iced over since the fridge gets its cold from the freezer. If you don't have a second fridge use a hair dryer to speed the defrost.

Water is not draining into pan. it is going inside fridge under

sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

Sears Coldspot 17 frostless freezer not defrosting

One reason for the fan running is that it is trying to distribute the air in the compartment. Look at the very rear of the freezer on the bottom and see if the little vents, which allow water to disperse, are not filled with frozen ice. If so, turn off the fridge (unplug it) and use a hair dryer to melt that ice until it is all gone. That will probably fill the condensation pan under the unit and you'll need to empty it.

Fridge is not cold enough, freezer is working fine, but has frost

Just had the same problem with my side-by-side.

In my case, the solution was to empty the freezer side, to access a back panel INSIDE the freezer covering the fan and cooling coils. Two screws held the back panel cover on, and when I removed the panel cover I found the cooling coils to be totally iced up, preventing the flow of cold air into the fridge side. I left the freezer open for a few hours until all the ice was melted, before replacing the inside panel. (I used a blow dryer to help speed up the ice melting).

Everything's working fine now for me - good luck with yours!

Refrigerator stopped working, freezer works fine

I turned off the refrigerator and left the freezer door open so the coils and the vents could thaw out. The cold air was not getting to the refrigerator section because of ice blocking the vents.

Refrigerator doesnt get cold enough

If you remove the back panel on the inside of the cabinet then you would be able to check the evaporator coil (cold bit) and see if it is frozen up. If it is then defrost the system and see if you have any improvement. All the things you have pointed out over the compressor is normal, they do run incredibly hot. If you have got the freezer on a very cold setting I would suggest bringing both setpoints to a mid range setting. Check the temp in the fridge by measuring liquid temp as air temp is prone to fluctuate more. If you still have a concern I would suggest contacting a fridge guy to assist you. Hope this is of some if not limited help.
