Screen has darkened but computer runs as normal

If they are blurry lines, likely you have a problem with heat damaging the diffuser plate behind the LCD. Unfortunately, there is no fix to this other than to replace the screen, which is as much as the same TV used. It's usually caused from the vents in the back of the tv getting clogged with dust/debris/smoke and the power inverter overheats. It causes the screen to develop a line on one side of the screen, then it starts to look like the screen was washed with something and you get black streaks running from the top which usually is accompanied by a darkened blurry "cloud".

Darken the screen and either move the lid forward or backwards. Laptops have Liquid Crystal Screens and moving the lid backwards or forward will give the screen a different look.

If you need to adjust the brightness of the screen it is controlled by keys on your laptop. Most times to darken the screen you will have to hit the FN, CTRL or ALT key and hold it down while you hit the key that corresponds to the screen darken key. On some computers (even on my laptop) it will be the down arrow key, so i would press FN+the down arrow key. Remember to hold the first key down while you hit the next key. The icon used for most times to denote the brightness or darkness looks like a circular sun or a washer that goes on screws.

The screen replacement is not cheap, hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if okay! the LCD screen is bad and must be replaced, if symptom is the same for both, it is the Video Graphics Card that is the problem normally built into the motherboard, If the laptop is a few years old I would opt to replace it.

It may be the backlighting has been readjusted by someone other yourself. Whenever you go on battery, I'm sure you've seen the screen darken a bit. This is the backlighting being turned down to save battery life. There is usually a blue function "fn" key that allows the user to brighten or darken the display. Look at the blue icons in the F1-F12 keys. The one to brighten the display looks light a sun and the one to darken the display looks a full moon eclipsed. Press and hold the fn key and tap the desired function key to brighten or darken the display.

Are the harddrive light/led flashing then starting up?

Are the fan noicy?

it sounds like a mother board or graphic card problem
get a proper diagnosis from a computer repair shop but technology is improving every day and laptops are getting lighter and faster so after getting the diagnosis and quote a replacement may be the option to consider

Sounds like you got infected and did the what the the virus wanted you to do (restart) and it took over. Try reinstalling windows. or running recovery.

To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out; usually the CCFL lamp fails before the inverter.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

you may got infected...first run scan on the system and then reboot and see if you normally use it then try going to play again if that happen again then you need to get new video card

The half moon usually means the computer is in SLEEP MODE. Normally, pressing the spacebar will wake the computer up but I have noticed that sometimes, the computer can get "stuck" in sleep mode. If that is the case, you can hold the power button down (until the power turns off and the moon disappears). Wait a few seconds then hit the power button again to turn the laptop back on.
