Check to see if the USB device you are attempting to connect works in a different system (preferably one that has never seen that device before, perhaps check with a friend)
If it works without issue on the other machine then check the acer website for driver updates.
If it does not work, you either need to install drivers for that device or you have a defective device.

Go to Acers website, and there should be a link like Drivers and Downloads. Enter in your computer model, or whatever it asks you, and get the XP Bluetooth driver for your laptop. Download and install that one.

Please do the following to sort out any driver issues you may have windows 7

1) Go to www.devicedoctor.com
2) Download and install the software
3) Once installed load the program and click on scan
4)Once it has finished scanning it will show you all the devices that need updating including the vga card
5) Download and install and your done
