The plug should be located in the small cabinet above the stove. Leave it unpluged at least for 10 minutes. Mine does it occasionally when it gets hot. I haven't had a problem since I turn the fan on when I run it.

I need to remove a spacemaker microwave from over the stove. I have removed all the screws that I can see and it's still rock solid. Suggestions?

As I recall the only 2 or 3 long screws that you need to remove are in the cabinet directly above the microwave. You will also, of course need to unplug the microwave above it as well. Is should now hinge down, as the back edge hooks onto a mounting plate on back wall.

Can you put and over-the-counter microwave over a stove?

Yes, that is what they are made for, As long as it has a vent that can be used to vent the smoke from cooking it can be mounted over the stove. Normally the bottom of the microwave should be mounted 16" to 19" above the stove top. The microwave must have a vent with a blower motor in order to be used above a stove top. Most have a thermal switch that will turn the microwave vent on once the temperature reaches a set point.

I have bought a whirlpool microwave wmh1163xvs. where does the power cord exit the oven and where should the plug in be located?

Typically the power cord on above the stove microwaves exit from the top of the oven. That way the oven can be mounted to the wall and the power cord can be routed up to an outlet in the cabinet above the microwave.

Microwave shut off like it lost power but the receptacle does have power to it. My model is an LVM1750.

The thermal cut out switch in the cavity is bad. I was unable to locate a wiring diagram on the internet but when I took the microwave apart, I found the wiring diagram inside the microwave on the back side of the touch panel.

This unit is mounted above the stove. We were cooking on the stove and also in the microwave. I think there was enough heat to trip the TCO switch.

Remove a whirlpool over the range microwave oven

Jim here. In cabinet above microwave, locate 2 mounting bolts.
Place a box on the stove top to support the microwave once the mounting bolts are removed (you may wish to cover the box with a thick towel or small throw rug).
Procedure:
1. Unplug microwave.
2. Remove both mounting bolts from top of microwave (they secure it to the overhead cabinet).
3. With microwave front angled down onto box, pull some of power cord out of hole (to provide some moving space).
4. With microwave hand supported, remove box from stove top (a second set of hands would be helpful here).
5. HARD PART- detach top of microwave back from wall mounting plate by placing a hand under the bottom rear of the microwave and pushing up. (Wall mounting plate is screwed into the wall behind the microwave and provides both top and bottom support to the back of the microwave.)
6. Lower front of microwave until you can see about a 1-inch clearance between the top-rear of the microwave and the cabinet above it.
7. Firmly lift the microwave straight up and then bring forward. It should be free of the wall mounting plate.

How do I install a replacement Frigidaire over the stovetop microwave - professional series, without removing the cabinet above it? I need to know how to best remove the existing microwave.

Remove everything from the inside of the microwave, (such as glass tray). Unplug the microwave, probably in the cabinet above. There are two screws in the cabinet above the microwave, near the front, that supports the front of the microwave. The back is hooked on a mounting plate attached to the wall behind it. An assistant is a good idea though this can be accomplished alone. It is best to move the stove out, if you are going to try alone. Please be carefl there is considerable weight to support here. Support the front of the microwave while the two screws are removed in the cabinet above. Slowly tilt the front of the unit down until you can pull the cord out of the bottom of the cabinet. With the front still tipped down, lift the back from it's support and remove it.

Can not remove microwave from wall

There should be screws in the cabinet floor ABOVE the microwave. Unscrew them, they will be long. Make sure you have someone to help you hold the microwave while you unscrew. One all the screws are gone, unplug the microwave and tilt the unit front first down about 45degrees then lift the back of the unit up 1-2 inches. Pull it forward and you should be all set.

Wall mounting needed for a top mount microwave/hood combination Whirlpool Model MH2175SB1. The cabinet above the stove is too flimsy to support the heavy microwave (50-60 pounds). Called Whirlpool. Sent me...

Is there a wall behind where the microwave is to fit?

Most of these ship with a mounting plate and instructions for mounting to the wall. In fact, the wall bracket carries about 1/2 the weight, and the overhead cabinets carry the other half. The plates come with a good set of instructions for how to install.

Whirlpool is sending you to a distributor because they have to watch liability in this litigous world we live in..

Maytag Microwave Power Outage - Model MMV5000BAB

Found this under GE instead of Maytag, but can answer for you here.

It may be the internal fuse, but more likely it is the thermostat on the magnetron.
