Faceplate It turns on but won't do anything manually or respond to the remote. It plays a CD but can not be changed and the volume can't be adjusted. The random button is stuck.

If the random button is stuck its the caue of your problem because if you hold one button pressed the others wont work.

on the back of the face plate there are 4 little screws take them out and see what is holding that button stuck or pull it out if you can ...

It sounds to me like you may have a bad volume control switch. Unless you are good at unsoldering and soldering, I would suggest you have it repaired by a professional. Either that or see if you can find a replacement face at a pawnshop or something like that.

My Panasonic Model: THL32U20A will not respond. You can turn it on manually (not by remote) and once turned on, nothing works, IE: remote doesnt do anything and you cant even change channels or volume etc...

I too have exactly the same fault. The Tv even turns itself on in the middle of the night, i have to unpug it from the wall. It has been in for repair 3 times now, one guy said there is nothing wrong with it. I am keen to hear if anyone has had this fault resolved.

it's more likey the faceplate, and where it makes contacts with the unit. if you try applying pressure and moving the detachable faceplate on while attached and it turns on, there could be a cold solder/loose connection on the board.

try cleaning the faceplate pins on the faceplate and the deck with alchool and q-tips, that dont work id start with peanuts :-)
