INSTALLING CAR STEREO - BLOWN FUSES?

I've got a 95 jeep cherokee. I'm trying to install an aftermarket JVC cd stereo. Now the interior lights & AC wont work. I've disconnected the unit & need advice on what to do next. I have an after market remote starter on the vehicle, not sure if this plays a role in the wiring scheme of things. Can anyone provide a walkthrough or troubleshooting advice?

I put a new stereo in my 1990 Suburban and it blew the fuse for the dome lights, dash lights. It says on the box that it is putting out 3 times the wattage as my old stereo. What can I do to fix that?

Aftermarket stereos are designed to work within the power specifications for most vehicles, if you are experiencing blown fuses I would suggest re-checking the stereo wiring for a crossed, exposed, or improper connection. If you have ruled out all of these then you can install a capacitor to power your system more efficiently. Most car audio stores sell these and are installed between the connection to the head unit and battery. I hope this helps =)

I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee i just put an aftermarket stereo in now the windows and mirors dont work

The door modules control windows and mirrors so check 50A fuse 12 in the power distribution center and 15A fuse 8 in the junction block.

Double check that the stereo was connected to terminal 33 of the junction block which is protected by 15A fuse 30. Yhe radio power lead is a WHT/RED wire

What is a anti theft device? what is passlock?

well most newer cars have the anti-theft,vss,or other BS, wired thorough the radio harness for whatever reason they felt. however they now have by-pass modules for most aplications.

check this out. If you take the factory radio face (rack of buttons) in a 01 ford focus the car will not start, or if you turn the car off, and push the volum knob to turn the radio on for one hour then lock the doors from the remote, the remote will no longer unlock them without being re programed(after you break-in to pop the hood and cut power and then re-program)....fewww!!

Installing an aftermarket CD player.

Go to a stereo sales & installation shop, or even auto parts places usually have them now too, and get an adapter harness for your particular vehicle. They plug directly in to your existing harness, then you simply wire your new stereo to it,via directions. Few bucks now, will save hours of aggravation later,.and if you decide to sell vehicle later, and put old one back in, it's all there to plug back in, nice & clean.
