How do I replace the plastic detent on the xl2600hh? I ordered a new replacement and it is a little different than the one that came out. It shows it needs screws, which did not come with. What size screws do I need and where do they screw in?

SOURCE: On/off switch for Oreck XL2600HH

Would have to assume by now you figured this out. However, need to open up the handle. It is a clamshell arrangement. Remove switch from handle, pull one wire at a time from the switch. The electrical connectors are a push-on type. Replace each one, one at a time, to the new switch, and then re-insert switch into handle. Close up the clamshell, tightening all of the screws, but do not strip the plastic housing.

Xl2600hhvacuum won't stand alone anymore, what is broken, is it a spring or some kind of catch missing

The detent that is mounted to the inside of the base cover is not working either because the screw holding has broken off or it is worn out. You could also have a worn out fan housing since that is what the detent catches to make it stand up. If the screw is broken off the only way to repair it is to replace the housing. Hope this helps.

How do I remove cover to get to on off switch?

The on/off switch is soldered to the circuit board which is covered by 3 plastic pieces that form "wings"..... the cord retract button and the on/off button. First remove the screw nearest to the Slider at the "MAX"position. There are 3 hooks formed on the plastic that fit into their respective detents, one under the "MAX", another under the "OFF" and the last under the "REWIND". Pull up on the On/Off wing at the point opposite the On/Off lettering. That should release the first hook. Then grab both wings on the side lateral to their respective lettering (and make a wish!) er, uh no, just pull straight up with enough sudden force to break it free. Worked for me without damaging anything. Hope that helps. I wonder what the shop manual says?I didn't try to replace the switch..... just bought a new C/B for $20. Sold at oregon city vacuum or apwagner.

I can't figure out how to put the bag on.

I had a terrible time trying to install a bag, too! The hinged piece must be closed. Hook the cardboard backing on the opening and
line up the pieces sticking out on either side of the hinged piece with the openings in the cardboard on the back of the bag. It has two places where you're supposed to place your fingers and push until it pops. Neither my husband nor I could make it pop, so I just looked at the back of the hinged piece and saw a little clamp type thing cut out in the plastic. This has to hook onto the plastic piece that is connected to the vacuum cleaner. Just bend it out and hook it on, making sure that everything is lined up.

Wiring schematic oreck xl2600hh

I have a Oreck XL and the propeller that is in the housing will become hard for the moter to turn. I have took it apart and do not see a problem, but when I reinstall the parts it will run for about 15 sec. and the moter will stop turning. When the propeller housing is off the motor turns ok and doesn't stop. Do I need a new propeller/housing?

For the handle release, part number is Detent Lever 2030052 Try bissell.com, or call a local repair shop, if they repair Bissell's, then they may have this part in stock. You shouldn't have to take it aprt, there 2 tabs on the release that fit into slots on the base, there move the slots so as to release the tabs.
