We had the same problem for many years. We purchased a GE multi remote and put in the program code. You then need to hit the input button on the remote to change to the various options and select the one that works. It worked for us so I hope it works for all.

Most TVs have manual buttons somewhere on the set to control volume up and down, channels up and down, and usually a menu button to access the settings. I'm not familiar with Insignia TVs but do a google search for your brand and model. If you don't have your original manual you should be able to find one online that shows where the manual control buttons are located and how to change the settings manually without a remote.
Universal remote alway work only the basic for the tv.Beyond that will have problems or stuck in some input or modes.Sorry i can't help u, because i don't know what is the reaction to ur tv by the universal remote, must use the universal remote again tries all the buttons like video modes or input botton.Or take the battery out like 20 mins of the universal remote to erase ur tv codes enter it again.Tries those buttons u pushes before, see if u can get out the video mode. All else fail.Try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote to use.
You need to change the input source to TV. You can do this with the original remote by pressing Input. (Unless the unit is in VCR mode then press TV and then Input). There is no Input button on this TV as far as I know.
If you do not have the original remote, you need a remote that matches this function. An exact replacement remote is available here: http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=DS35510&uuid=12925568663700 . Some universal remotes will have this feature but usually not the cheapest ones. Make sure the universal remote was programmed at least 6 months after the TV was released. The exception: the universal remotes that can be programmed via a USB connection to your computer.
Try remotes.com for a substitute remote. I believe the exact URL for your model is: http://remotes.com/store/curtis_mathes/cm27002s.html . Universal remotes are available but the cheap ones may not do all of the features of the original remote.
Go push menu button on the front of tv or the right side.Pick the video out,or tv.Or buy a remote.Website 1-800-Remotes factory Original. For the original remote.
During a recent move the remote was lost. I have the 6420FF in my son's room and trying to set up dvd and wi console set up, but cannot adjust tv via menu button on tv. Is there any way to set-up game system and/or dvd without remote?
You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If you don't have the original remote and can't find it ever or if it is too expensive you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your dvd player, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4 and other cable channels are still working,
You can buy the RF Modulator from: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180299245670
try pressing both volume buttons at the same time and hold them in for a sec you might get the menu screen or try the channel buttons the same way... some t.v's will give you your menu that way
Yes I have the same problem and used a different remote and tried going through the menu on the tv, but it did not work.
