We regret to inform you that if your model does not have the web browser feature in the VIERA Connect Market, you cannot add this feature with a firmware update.

SOURCE: Hi Bought a Viera TX-L42D25B so

You connect one end of an ethernet cable to the back of the television where it says Ethernet and the other end to your router or directly to the modem/phone jack providing your internet signal. You may need to unplug your router for 10 minutes after you connect your television before you can use Viera Cast. Here is a really good article on the television. http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panasonic-tx-l42d25-tx-l42d25b-20100430437.htm

If the television is so far away that an ethernet cable will not reach you will need to purchase a couple PLC adapters. For example http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-BL-PA100A-HD-PLC-Ethernet-Adaptor/dp/B000FZVTSW

Connecting netflix

How do I set up my Panasonic TV?
Hit the Menu button on your Panasonic TV remote.
Select Network > Network Connection.
Select Wireless.
Select Wireless Network Settings.
Find your Shaw network name in the list of available networks and select it.
Enter your network password.
Your wireless connection should now be set up.

On these devices, the Netflix App can be accessed via VIERA Connect or the Netflix button on your remote control. If your Panasonic Smart Device does not have the Netflix App, it can be downloaded onto any internet connected external device (smartphone, tablet, gaming console).

What type of device do you have to connect to Netflix?
If watching in browser on desktop you need to install Silverlight

Tv

Which TV do you have? You posted this under the Viera TH-42PZ85U which does not include VieraCast (internet connection). To add the web to the TH-42PZ85U, you need to connect a Smart TV set-top box (NetGear NeoTV, a blu-ray player with the option, or a HTPC (home theater PC or an Android TV stick).

I wish that I had better news for you. If you have a different TV, please add a comment with the information. Most SmartTVs will have an ethernet port on the back with the rest of their input/output ports. Those with wi-fi networking built in still have the wired ethernet port.

Taken delivery of 40" samsung

Make sure you have it set to wireless off in the menu or it will not recognise the ethernet port on the back even if it is flashing. Most tvs with browsers come with the wirless function set to on. Also if it has search for internet signal you could try this to get it to rec. as well.

I have installed a bridge on my network, but when I try to configure Viera Cast I keep getting the message "invalid DNS address, check your settings"

where is the solution??? The sideline said there was one!! I have the same problem and FixYa seems to be useless with this particular problem. Spent half a day fighting my TV setting, but no luck. Panasonic should specify what kind of devices can be used to connect their TV's to network: whether you can only use it with a wired connection going straight to your router, so you get DHCP/DNS resolved, or some other means. You definitely can't use wireless Access Point to get the Viera Cast to work. I tried bunch of modes and settings on my Access Point (Trendnet, both router and AP), but get the same error "DNS name not valid". What in the world!!! I get connection to my router, my DHCP is enabled, connection in Network Settings checks OK, but VIera Cast still gives me that DNS error. What gives??? Anyone smart enough around here to figure this one out? I tried both automatic and manual network detection, with the same results, even tried connecting another router to AP, which got connection right away, and thought I could full Viera Cast that way. No luck! What a useless option in a TV, when it doesn't work! FAQ on Panasonic's site are not helpful with this issue, either. No straight answer on the Net, either. HELP SOMEBODY!
