Just bought ms pro duo for my DSC-P72 , after I inserted it in adaptor and then into ms slot , it says " no memory stick". anybody can let me know what is wrong?

dscp71 camera. i am told by lexar or sandisk. the camera only supports up to 256 meg, and not the pro, not pro duo. i do not have a 256 stick to test. local store did not sell them. i tried low level format which ruined the card.

As a last resort you could copy the full card to a computer and then delete the pictures on the card and use that again.

Here is the error list from the camera manual.
This is all I can suggest from here.

How to repair a memory stick duo turn that to raw

Put memory stick in camera and format it, this is the only way to fix some problem in memory stick.
If that does not help, memory stick got hardware problem that is irreparable. Buy new memory stick then.

This camera takes an SD (secure digital) memory card according to amazon and google. Looks like your using a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo which would not be compatible.
Try using an SD card.

Memory stick error

The Mavica MVC-FD100 has spec for the std. memory stick and does not allow use of the newer Pro-Duo memory stick. Buy an old used std. memory stick on ebay to fix your problem.

Format error

If Duo Pro got hardware problem, then it can not be fixed and you can't retieve data on it. Regarding new memory stick, camera will check it and let you know about format it or not.

File error

I was having the same problem with my 4GB memory stick pro duo, when i took more than 50 pictures with my camera (dsc-w90) i would get the blue screen with the file error message. I'm guessing you bought the memory stick on ebay right? I bought mines there and it turns out it's a fake one. I had this same problem and the procedure it the following : IF YOU WANT TO SEE YOUR PICTURES, DOWNLOAD "PhotoRescue" INSERT YOUR MEMORY STICK CARD IN YOUR CAMERA, RUN THE SETUP1 AND FORMAT IT. Good luck

It won't take a picture-everything else is fine I put in New batteries,hit the reset button, reset the time date stamp,reset to factory settings by removing the batteries and holding the power button for 10 seconds, everything is fine but it won't take a picture!All ready to go but nothing happens..Screen is working, I can see my old pics when i want, menu and settings all work but it won't take a pictureI need this for my ebay auctions.puleeeeeeeze help!
