Toshiba TP50H50 Picture blinks off after it makes a popping noise. It immediately comes back on after a second. The sound stays on. This occurs watching cable, DVD's and playing video games. What will it take to fix it?

I am thinking more along the lines of the pop you hear being a high voltage discharge (that should not be happening). The source could be one of the several thick red wires which you should NEVER touch. The focus divider block located at the front lower right side under the speaker cover. You can unplug the set and inspect that for a crack. If cracked, you must replace it. Although this one is Toshiba, RCAs are really bad about that. You must be very careful, TVs have many dangerous voltage sources that can injure and potentially kill. If you are unfamiliar with TV servicing I would take it to a shop.

Why does the red indicator light flash but the tv does not come on? What do you think could be the problem?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy.

My toshiba TP50H15 color tv comes on then off and the light blink

The flashing power light on those Toshibas is usually caused by capacitors on the power board having failed solder connections. I have fixed them before by removing the power board and resoldering the capacitors. If you have experience with soldering and electronics it is an easy repair. Most shops will recommend replacing the entire board since their labor to repair it would probably cost more. Toshiba put out a service bulletin on this issue which a good technician should be aware of. (If memory serves the capacitors are C109 and C110.  Since your TV still turns on you probably haven't blown fuse F860 which often blows when these capacitors act up.)
If you would like further help with this please post a comment back here.

Picture & sound go on & off every sec, red light blinks 5 times

helloFive blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Toshiba tp50h50

You really should get a service manual for this set to check the voltages. If you found out what the wire was for that you remove from the board to get the set to come on, you could troubleshoot and narrow down your problem. Without it you would be guessing. Good Luck and let us know how you made out.
