Try re-formatting it on your computer and then reinstalling the firmware with a program from the philips website.

This model only works with its own proprietary adapter, and I believe that Philips ran out sometime in 2008. You can double-check Fox International to see if they have any left, or you can find one on eBay (here's one for $1.35 - Philips would have charged $35.00):

This model had a proprietary USB cable - it doesn't work with just any USB cable (also, it does not work with Windows Vista, or with Windows Media Player 10). Your computer has to be running Windows XP, and you have to be using Windows Media Player 10. here is an auction for the proprietary USB cable (may end at any time):

Philips hdd070 MP3 player has gone dead

i think it's hanged. Let it be the way is it, once the battery is exhausted and at that time when u start it, it should be OK.
