Question about LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer
I got my fixed last night. It was the "lid" for the softener despenser that was making the drawer stick. To remove it you need to take the top off of the washer. There is are two plastic "holders" on the back of the machine that hold the top onto the machine. Each of these "holders" have two screws, remove them, then remove the holder. You can then, with some effort, slide the top of the washer towards the back the then lift it off. You will then be able to see plastic tub that contains the drawer for the despensers. You can't remove this tub, but on the side facing the inside of the washer are a couple of tabs holding the top of the plastic down. You can gently release these tabs and pull up on the top slightly. This gave me enough "play" to then open the drawer. The problem, I believe, is that over time, that tub moves and makes it impossible for the drawer to open. With trial and error, I found that with removing the "lid" for the softener despenser, and completely closing the lid of the plastic tub, that that solved the problem.

I had the same problem with the soap drawer not opening. The problem was the fabric softener compartment not closing down properly. You have a couple of options to fix the problem. First take the top of washer off by first removing the plastic clips at the back then slide the top towards the back and lift up to remove the top. With the top off you now see the plastic soap dispenser. There's 3 plastic clips beside the plastic tup that you lift and this allows you to slightly open the top of tub, remember you cannot open it fully only slightly that you can insert a thin object (knife) that allows you to place the softener blue plastic lid back down and you now have the actual drawer working again. You have another option you can remove or breakaway the blue plastic lid all together since it doesn't serve any purpose and this will prevent for this to re-occur. I fixed the problem by using the silver duct tape and closed it shut. I tell you ia made my wife's day by fixing the problem.GOOD LUCK!

Check jivings solution on this thread, and forget the rest.
His solution is very easy to follow, and it works.

I am only adding to what Jiver's came up with. The problem is that the softener lid stops locking down and that is what makes it stick. I inserted a screw from the front of the softener wall into the blue verticle support. Just make sure you have the lid all the way down when you get the screw in. A drill will not fit in this space but if you just twist a sharp drill bit you can get it done in a couple of minutes. Make sure you drill through the face of the verticle support as well I also shaved the top of the front of the blue tub at an angle. You don't have to take much off. This will make the tub slide smoother than it did before the fix.

Jliving's suggestion was awesome and appreciate taking time to share; I went a step further and notice the fabric softener gets hung up on a partition from the top of the draw housing. This partition is for the dry soap area and I removed the partition the farthest away when your looking at it. I took a 3/16" drill bit and cut holes in it and then took a dry wall saw (it's all I had long enough to get in there) to remove the portions of the partition between the drilled wholes. I then took a file and removed all remaining bures. Clean out the bottom of the drawer housing which was now full of plastic shavings and the drawer pulled out like a champ. I'm thinking the reason for the partition is to keep the water that sprays into dry soap dispensor from whicking across the top.
Since removing this partition, I haven't noticed any problems. Hope this helps someone else.

Jliving suggestion worked great. In my case it was the softener dispenser causing the issue. I just removed the blue cover since my wife does not use it.
Just want to add that you can't remove lid after unfastening the tabs . In my case I had to lift up on the back and this gave me enough room to unlock the jam.

While opening machine's upper panel, you will have an access to the drawer. It probably was stuck because of a solidify detergent powder. Pull out the drawer and clean it properly. Good luck!

I had the same problem with a stuck soap dispenser on my LG. I removed the lid as described above. Afterwards, I loosened the tabs following the instructions above & the drawer opened immediately. I found that sticking a toothpick under the tab would hold the cover to the enclosure up enough to solve the problem. I may have to take more drastic actions in the future, but for now it works great & only took 5 minutes.

Service manual for your washer: http://136.166.4.200/contents/Laundry/WM2277/WM2277xx_Service_Manual.pdf
The dispenser is depicted on page 33. You may want to replace the dispenser and holder, or take it all apart and clean well. I would soak it in CLR overnight to remove mineral deposits that may be blocking the movement.

I have the same problem, and I am unable to access the top panel. The drawer is in the way.
soap dispenser stuck on my lg front load washer.
the soap dispenser on lg washer is stuck.
I have the same problem, and I don't use solid detergent. If it was just detergent, I would be able to pull it open. Any other solutions???
same problem here as well. I'm searching to find out the best way to access the drawer. Can anyone help with a detailed explanation on how to get to it thru removal of the top panel?
I have had the same problem. I force pulling out the drawer the first time and just replaced the drawer. However after around 8 months it is doing it again. I force pulling the drawer out again and it looks like the whole assembly needs to be replaced because it is all crooked. I don't know if I damaged it by pulling it out or if it was already that way. I don't understand why it was stuck to begin with.
I had the same problem, the first time they replaced the drawer and it worked for about a year. Now the drawer isstuck again and they replaced the housing. Seems it warped but extended warranty won't cover as not deemed functional to machine. I guess soap and fabric softener is not a necessary requirement for these repair men. Repair was $210. and they consider it wear and tear and cosmetic.
I will never purchase an appliance from Tasco as extended warranty is the worst , nor will I purchase an LG product.
I did notice that the replacement housing is made from a different material, seems harder now.
If you continue to pull at the drawer without fixing it, you will have to replace the drawer as well. (another $50 for parts)
My dispenser keeps getting stuck inside the drawer
