Backlight I cannot get the backlight to turn on, is there something i have to do to make it work?

No, it's not normal. Use your users guide to reset the watch.

You cannot change the light. It is an electro-luminescence layer behind the display. It is something like a large LED. They are designed to not be very bright to save battery life. I have a number of Casio watches. They are all not very bright. Also the non silver background type watches tend to be much darker than the silver background with black symbols.

There are more tha one version of your watch, so you need to go to the Nike web site to be sure that you have the correct instructions.

From what I can make out, the backlight comes on when the upper left hand button is pressed. The light will turn off after a short while, to preserve the battery

To get a copy of the instructions, go to the web site "Niketiming.com. "

Select you language and region.

On the left of the screen there is a box with a drop down menu for manuals. Choose yours and download.

Your battery is most likely failing. The first thing that stops working is light and sound because those functions use the most energy! When your battery voltage is below 2.5 volts the light will stop working!

I had the same problem. The seller told me to reset the watch by pressing down on all four buttons at once. Sure enough, the backlight function was enabled again.

PUSH AND HOLD THE MANUAL LIGHT BUTTON, SHOULD CHANGE TO AUTO MODE

Go to this link; http://world.casio.com/wat/download/en/manual/ and enter the four digit code on the back of the watch, you should get a user manual - i do think you are probably right however. Hope this helps :)
