Hi, I'm able to get the drive to mount, and iPhoto even opens when i plug in the USB, but it just churns and churns and basically the app just freezes. i'm using an older version of iPhoto (v4) so maybe that's the problem? thx!
An answer that worked for me is listed in another posting: http://www.fixya.com/support/t360042-mac_iphoto_problem

I have a similar problem. Except nothing freezes. It just doesn't upload... How do I fix that?
Use the Mac Application "Image Capture" to download photos then import them into iPhoto. I created a new folder to store the photos imported from the W80.
When camera connects to my imac, it takes FOREVER to get the folder with the JPEGS to open form the Sony memory stick icon on desktop. Once I got the folder to open and started coping to my desktop, the whole computer froze up. I tried changing the setting on the camera to Mas storage, and Auto. Will try with pict bridge, but battery died. This is way too much effort, if I had known I WOULD NEVER have bought this camera!
I have a Sony Cybershot W80 and by some chance have managed to make it work once but can not get it to work again. The image capture comes up with Sony DSC but never gets around actually finishing recognising the device. It does not appear on iphoto but comes up as phone card on the usb slot. Very frustrating. It should not be so hard.
