Which model ipod ??
In keeping with Apple's goal to make user-friendly, streamlined products, the designers of the iPod built in easy-to-use reset functions into each iPod model.
Resetting the iPod is similar to rebooting a computer as all songs and data stored on the device stay there, and only temporary information (such as which song is playing) gets reset.
Follow these steps to reset an iPod.
Toggle the "Hold" switch to the "On" position, then "Off."
The "Hold" switch is the small sliding switch on the top of the iPod.
Move it to the "On" position to show an orange rectangle. Move it back to the "Off" position to show a white rectangle.
Hold the "Menu" and "Center" buttons.
Press the 2 buttons at the same time for between 8 and 10 seconds.
Your screen will go blank and then boot up with a dark Apple icon.
The icon eventually turns bright and brings you back to your main menu once the reset is complete.

Check your iPod to make sure it plays properly. If the iPod still does not work repeat the reset process.

Scroll Wheel and Touch Wheel iPods

Move the "Hold" switch from "On" to "Off."

Press the "Play/Pause" button and the "Menu" button at the same time.
Press both buttons together for approximately 6 to 8 seconds.
This initiates the self-running reset process.

Make sure the reset was successful.
If problems persist you may need to perform the reset process once again.
iPod Nano

Move the on-off switch to the "Off" position that shows the green strip.
Leave the iPod Nano in this position for 5 seconds.

Move the switch back to the "On" position.

Use your iPod Nano to make sure the reset worked properly and all your music is intact.

IPOD NANO. The screen lights up but there is no

your screen is broken. the ipod still works in full, so the only problem is the screen.
the back-light still works, this is why the screen is lighting up.

this is problem a hardware, rather than software issue (e.g. physical damage) so its not something that can be fixed with a iPod 'restore'.

you have some choices at this point:

1) try and fix it yourself. this can be difficult but alot cheaper (if your good with directions, pick this)
go to ifixit.com
they have both the parts for the repair, as well as the instructions on how to do the repair itself.

2) send it off to apple to fix
this will be very expensive and slow, i don't recommend this.

3) sell it, and buy a new iPod.

Iopd nano sand clock frozen in the screen

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps you!

Iopd doesnot functioning

Start with these five simple solutions: Reset, retry, restart, reinstall, or restore

If that is useless try contacting apple or your dealer for more assistance / repairs.

If you need more asistance, let me know.

IPod click wheel frozen

Try to restart the Ipod.

Hold the select button and the menu at the same time until you see the screen go off.

If still does not work then try to enter disk mode and see if it works.

Disk Mode:
Reboot the ipod via Select and menu, right away hold the select and play button and hold until disk mode comes on. Does the wheel work?

If still does not work then reboot the ipod again and let it reboot normal to go back in apple firmware. If all buttons are working and none of the above works, I would assume it is not software related.
