Issue is either with the X or Y sustain board. Look for a cap that has blown or a cracked solid state device on the board. One of them is responsible for the ***** croak you heard.
This could be almost anything. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4916941-diagnose_repair_projection_tv_high which explains the process for finding the problem, walking a non technical person through it and listing places to get parts at a good price. If this tip does not solve the problem it has a link to another tip which explores more problems your set could have. Good luck. Let me know if you need more help.
Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.
I would use the warranty for this problem. The part that need to be replaced can be somewhatexpensive.
With the credit card statement, you can use that as a receipt.
You'll need to replace the Y sus & Z sus to complete the repair! The Y sus is what has made the z sus pop! Trust me! Also it is recommended to replace the Y drive or drives. Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions! I'm more then happy to help you fix your TV!
