Question about Washing Machines
I have a maytag top load washer, about 15 years old. Once the washer fills, water still drips from the fill slot through all cycles, including the spin cycle. Even when the washer is turned off, it still drips.
I think the problem is leakage at the FILL SLOT, not at the tub/agitator shaft seal.
This leak is probably due to the selonide controled water valve assembly. The valve is eithe damaged, dirty, or more likely needs replaceing.

Underneath the agitator is a graphite seal ring and nut that seals the inner tub and the outer tub. a suitable spanner wrench or a 6 inch channel lock plier will remove this locknut. replace the seal.
